One of the funniest movies i have ever seen is a "rock-umentary" on a made up european boy band called "boyzvoice". Fucked if i can remember the title but is was pure gold

anyone know wtf im on about?

Posted by MiSSyM on Nov-30-2005 09:32:

hahahahhhaaaaaaaaaaaaahaha

what about this one movie i swear for the whole 2 hours (i didnt watch all of it, kept changing through channels)
it had this old lady talking jibberish and she was half buried in sand/pebbles, & whenever i kept changing the channel back to it the sand was going higher-but the old hag was still just talking jibberish..................i swear it was that for the whole 2 hours until the sand went over her head and the old bitch died.

Yeah he was unreal. Sbs went downhill after they stopped having his cult night, but it's getting better again. Recently there's been some really good foreign films, usually on wednesday/thursday/saturday nights around 10pm. Tonight is Amelie I think, I havn't seen it so I'll have to stay up for this one.

sbs are like the best!
they have mythbusters, had chappelle on for a while, they got safran too (although his new show isnt very good :/), and and ANDDD they're getting TOP GEAR! TOP GEAR!!!!! TOP GEARRR!!!!!!!!!!! best. show. ever

Posted by davidvonhauser on Nov-30-2005 09:52:

lol, Im not sayint they're bad, far from it. Compared to 7/9/10 sbs is god's gift to australians too poor to afford cable tv. I just meant they were better with the regular cult films. Although now cult films are back. So all is good with the world.

Posted by vitamin v on Nov-30-2005 10:30:

"Cyclo" - Vietnam

Posted by sunrise3500 on Nov-30-2005 13:05:

dont forget "the weather woman returns", although the original is the best

Posted by Ves on Nov-30-2005 13:19:

this thread is fabulous! i'm on uni hols and i don't start my summer job for another 2 weeks; hence i have no money to go out, and i'm shit bored. seeing all the movies mentioned in this thread will keep me entertained

xenon- i got lost during the whole 'lets smear ourselves with paint' scene in Cyclo hahah. i'll definitely check out Three Seasons though. hopefully i can find it

tathi- thanks for the Dogma recommendation
i had actually forgotten all about that Biker scene... (it's been a few years since i've seen The Idiots). i was referring to the, ehhhh, group sex close ups

As for Lilya 4-Eva, I cried my eyes out during that movie. Directed by the same guy who did Fucking Amal- Lukas Moodysson

Hahah, dear 'Soccer Before Sex' definitely got me into the whole foreign film thing. I still remember the first time I saw The Weatherwoman as a youngen, my reaction being akin to this:

But I've moved onto World Movies
I saw Goodbye Lenin for the first time last week, which most of you have probably already seen. Very funny film.
Also saw Marie-Jo et ses deux amours, which was one of those typical heart-wrenching french films marked by sex, passion, and sadness.

xx

Nice guess , Project A part 2 is pretty good aswell.

The only real star in Project A is Yuen Biao, damn legend!

BUT shit, again... Drunken Master 2 beats the shit out of it (admit it trancenutter )

Ive nearly bought all the Jackie Chan movies.. well only the good ones, even the classics like Armour Of God

Did any go to see Jackie Chan when he came to Australia ages back when he came to promote his book, awesome day!!

Another nice movie is Zatoichi - The Blind Swordsman, go watch it.

Also there is a persian movie by the name of "The Lizard", it's pretty much the most controversial film for Iran.

Posted by davidvonhauser on Nov-30-2005 23:57:

I saw All Is Illuminated the other day at the cinema. It's VERY good. I recommend everyone see this film. I have much more respect for Elijah Wood now after his hobbit labeling, he's really proven that he can continue a career in film.

yeah, ive been wondering about this. convince me to buy it begic.

Posted by Aesthetic on Dec-01-2005 00:40:

IMO it's like "underworld" and "matrix" rolled in one.. really good ideas in it.. and if it was made in the US, it would be a box office hit. Buy it PKC, you'll enjoy it if you're a vampire movie fan like moi =)

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Dec-01-2005 00:43:

alrighty, i shall. since i quit smoking i have all this money to spend you see but this is your very last chance to prove to me you have some taste outside music

Posted by davidvonhauser on Dec-01-2005 01:32:

Ah I saw this film as well and was blown away, possibly by the sheer fact that I went in expecting it to be american. And crap. The subtitles are the most interesting I've ever seen. This film IS art.
