How about "They've never tasted Democracy." How many countries that have successfully democratized have gone on to revert to a totalitarian dictatorship? Or have devolved back into something else? I think that given the chance, most people would prefer to have a vote on policies that dictate how they live their lives. Particularly in the long-run.

plus uno!

Now, let's look at our ex arch nemesis. RUSSIA. Please, explain to me when Russian had democracy? Anyone? O.K. thought so. Yet, after decades of totalatarian rule and dictatorship. Russia and her republics decided that this is enough. So, they rose up and over threw their tyrants for a taste of a fairy tale to them known as democracy. Yet, it's a hard process for them, however they keep voting in "Democratic" leaders (the latter is complete and utter BULLSHIT seeing as Putin himself always said he isn't a democrat but rather called his regime a "controlled democracy", "free socialism", etc). An idea of freedom is any man's basic instinct. They will always choose to follow that unless they have their secret agenda.

In case you're being sarcastic there, let me assure you that democracy has never produced succesful results in Pakistan. I've lived there so I know. And Musharaf came to power because of a military coupe. I seriously doubt he has any intentions to install "real democracy."

Purple, you shouldn't be talking about being drunk and posting your gobbledegook here or anywhere else on this site, something you've yet to figure out even though a 100 people told you that by now. pol room, first time i heard of it.

So, back on point, oh wise moron. Which country went from a democracy back to tyranny on thier own accord? Pakistan clearly doesn't count, that's wat the ARTICLE WAS THERE FOR! One of the quotes was talking about how we condemn rape, child labor, etc but South Asia we call it Democracy, while it's cleary far from it. So just because pakistan "went back to tyranny" even though if you had an inkling on it's fairs you would know that's not the case, IT DOESN'T COUNT.

I don't remmember which enlighted despot said this during the enlightment period in Europe but he said that every men is born FREE. And this has been proven over and over and over again through out the ages. Which country nowdays loves it's monarchy and has no say in it's government and is definatly fine with it? Iraqis were never happy and always wanted to throw out Sadam. It's a human's ineherit right and sense to become free and gain freedom.

Hence, my rant about Russia. A country that was first driven out by mongols, conflicted with the Polish-Lithuania commonwealth, then tartars, then this then that, then a revolution into something it didn't know, then almost a 1,000 years of existence and never having a free government, not only Russia, the largest country on earth, but all of her republics, moved to accept democracy.

But, i'm sure that's not a good example, 500 million people leaving something more secure though problematic to something they only have heard of but a dream worth dying for.

But isn't Pakistan one of our allies in "the War on Terror?" Do you actually mean to say that they don't always act benevolently in regards to human rights? What horror!

By showing how, according to your own post, Russias shift towards a more democratic culture resulted from internal change.
