Marcel has OKAY productions. Lately M.I.K.E. has been releasing CRAP but generally speaking M.I.K.E. is one of the best producers on this planet. I was at Viva that night too, he definately kept my ass dancing for the entire 3 hours.

M.I.K.E. changes his style quite frequently. He's playing ALOT more Electro these days moreso than his banging hard hitting progressive trance which I loved off. As far as this set is concerned I found it fairly dull, and definately far from being "hard". Now I have NO idea how Tiesto came into this but he will always be a joke, one day you will realize it Tiesto4Life (I hope)

i am sorry but i disagree.

as of late M.I.K.E. productions have been rocking. Antwerp
the CD is prime example.

I do agree that MIKE is one of the best producers if not the best in EDM.

MIKE's style changes yes and yes he switches it up with electro stuff but thats what makes him good. if he played same stuff all the time he wud be boring. nothing compares to what u feel like when u hear different sound from your fav. dj

this set is hard in its own way and again going back to what i wrote about hard music earlier in this thread.

I dont think Tiesto is a joke ... there is no denying tht the man contributed loads to EDM and promoted it to a new level. His music has gone a bit koo koo but hey to each their own

Posted by Takayuki on Dec-10-2005 02:18:

lol Antwerp is a compilation, not a production.

Tiesto contributed to the world commericialization of Electronic Music (HORRAY!). Other than that hes a 1 hit wonder.

for sumone who thinks tiesto is a one hit wonder, i shall not further get my self involved with a discussion of the music cos it appears that you are just a bandwagoner. no hard feelings.

It's amazing how clueless alot of people are about M.I.K.E. in this country.( U.S.) The last time I seen M.I.K.E. live was a hell lot better than the last time I seen Tiesto@Glow, and the dance floor was half empty wtf. More people go to see Acosta who is fucking terrible.

M.I.K.E.is one of the greatest trance producers of all time. For marketing his productions however, I think he should have used one name for himself on all of them.

LOL "i should have explained it better for you" ROFL. Are you one of Tiesticles beloved fans? Maybe you took me far too seriously; he has made more than 1 good production/remix but I was generalizing. Tiesto is no longer a good DJ. Maybe about 5 years ago, but Oakenfold was far more superior at the time too. Now everyone bashes Oakey just as much as Tiesto. "Over-rated" "Commericial" are the gernalizations people make about these artists/DJ's but they don't have any idea about the contributions and how much they have changed the EDM scene globally. I must say I heard Tiesto Pres. Allure - The Love We Lost (Tilt Remix) the other day. Not sure how new/old that production is but I love it.

*looks at set posted in these very forums* yeah he still is good.

news for the newb, but people bashed oakey long time ago when he was one of the top players. jokenfold etc etc etc , so I have no idea why you think its something new that HE gets bashed.

BOTH of them have made huge contributions to the music we love and both have had their time at the top. Both now are at a point where sometimes they care, while others they dont, and while that may suck, they kind have earned the right to do so. *but at that point imo, you should either move on with something else, or try to rekindle that love you once had*

Sorry but gotta interupt here. Marcel Woods> M.I.K.E.? Crack cocaine?

You can have your own opinion about who you would prefer, but from the technical point of view, there is no way in narnia you can say Marcel is a better producer over his career. M.I.K.E. under all his aliases has put out more quality productions than anyone else, keeping an original sound and keeping to the genre of his alias which is even harder.

He is so underappreciated. I wish if you wanted to listen to Trance you would have to take a course on M.I.K.E. because even when he was at Viva, I told this guy "Man, M.I.K.E. is so awesome" and the guy reply's back "Yeah but I like Push better, he's way better than M.I.K.E........" (and no, he wasn't talking about the style he was spinning that night)

Z103.5 LOL -- Your putting your feet in your own mouth. Looks like your the one who listens to that station since you know what they play on it. Traffic was good, when it FIRST came out. Tiesto's old productions "Nyana, Just Be, In My Memory etc" all that crap was terribly over-rated. His In Search of Sunrise and Magik albums were half decent, but they were NOT his productions, simply compilations.

Since when did I say its NEW that Oakey gets bashed? I said now he gets bashed JUST as much as Tiesto does. This is for a simple reason, Oakey no longer cares about his career, being famous and or anything in between. He like Tiesto has gone to the top and done it all. As for these people that you say bashed Oakey when he was one of the "top players" well its evident they have no idea what true Trance was. Oakey defined the genre like no other and this is evident especially in 1999 with his 12 world tour essential mixes. When do you think you will ever hear another Gatecrasher? Never. When it comes down to rating a DJ, track selection is where its at. Any DJ can be great technically, but the track selection is all up to you. Tiesto was good then too, he wasn't so caught up in all the fame and marketing. Clearly though they both turned the cheek and realized they don't care about the music anymore, and only about the money. I can't remember the exact year but Paul Van Dyk was much more worthy of the #1 spot a couple years back, where is the justification for his #1 spot this year? Pity? Regardless, it doesn't matter. The entire EDM scene going commercial has helped the scene worldwide but at the same time taken away from the reasons why DJ's do what they do. It's all about the music and NOT the money.

Back to the topic at hand:

M.I.K.E. was and always will be one of the best producers of this time.
