I fucking blanked out and just braked and prayed I would stop, but I didn't stop early enough. I went right under her bumper (Nissan Pathfinder) and now am left with $5000 of damage. New hood, new right headlight, new bumber, and new fender.
P.S. Swamper please don't ban me for the damage I did to the best car in the whole wide world.

Ok, this is a SHITTY thing to happen - but - just be happy you're ok.

First off, your bumper is fucked - which means opportunity - when my stock bumper got messed up in 2002 I decided it was a sign that I should've bought the Mugen front bumper I had been mulling over for weeks. Best bang for the buck cosmetic mod imo.

If you'd rather get a new stock bumper you can check out the Toronto Prelude club forums (http://www.hondaprelude.to) - there is always tons of stuff for sale on there - (side note: if you know anyone selling a lude trunk with no spoiler holes let me know).

I'm bringing my car to the shop on Monday to get a massive dent out in my quarter panel that came as the result of a (@#*@@# who didn't pay attention while reversing (into my parked car) when it first snowed 2 weeks ago.

I know you're not in Toronto but PM me if you want the contacts/references for some places in Markham that'll take good care of you.

Oh.. and ya.. you better go party tomorrow.

Posted by malek on Dec-10-2005 01:59:

dude you don't have her info?

call the cops tell them you got into a hit and run, she walked away from the accident, explain everything, she didn't give you infos because she didn't understand english etc etc

then call the insurances and give them the police report number... you should have your car fixed.

Doesn't matter if she took your info, she walked away without giving any infos of her (name, phone, driving licence number, etc.)

insurance is your friend.

It is?

I always thought they were cock sucking assholes who took all your money but didnt want to give you any back whenever something bad happend to your vehicle.

But maybe I was wrong..

Posted by zoogla on Dec-10-2005 02:12:

LOL cyper...my genitalia...uh...YEAH...that puts things into perspective!

Taha you're awesome bro...thanks for your message! All is good, bro...just the "other" better half isn't looking too good. Okay I think I'm gonna stop with these references to the car as a woman because you guys are totally banging home the message of material objects...(thanks smuncker) yeah...maybe this was a message to me about NOT to treat the car the way I have..but it's so hard!

Jay--LOL!!! I used that wording exclusively for you! Hope you get some sliding action tonight (sorry to hear about your ankle )

And thanks Josh...can't wait to see you tomorrow!!! I really hope you come!

I really appreciate that. LOL at the stiffness!

Nah, I'm totally cool and so was the lady.

I guess my only fear is that she calls the police and gives my plate and says i was a hit-and-run or some shit like that.

btw am I allowed to be driving my car around with that much damage? Any laws against that? I was gonna drop it at my friend's shop on Monday morning.

And NO I'm not going through insurance

Make sure you report it. If its over $1000 in damage you have to report by law to the police, not necessarilly insurance.

I was in a similar accident with $3k in damage to the front of my car. Both of us decided to keep insurance out of it but I made the mistake of driving around in it. Two months after the repairs were done, I got a letter from Toronto Police services stating that my car was identified as one with over $1k in damages and was required to come to their collision center and report it. All this after I found a nice garage that did it quietly and real cheap.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Dec-10-2005 02:14:

in this case insurance will be your friend.

since the damage is so high, you just pay the deductible and you are good.

insurance helped me out so much when my car was fucked up.

the damage was 8500.

Ouch! Was that the final damage cost? I know when they first estimate that they will assume there's damage to places even if they don't know.

Swamps, you made my night. I can't believe you said EXACTLY what I mentioned to my buddy at Formula Honda tonight. I SAID EXACTLY that maybe I should get the Mugen front bumper now....LOL!!!!!!!! You effin RAWK. Superior minds think alike, I guess?

*yes, everyone, I know I'm a kiss ass but this is honestly the God's honest truth...I *heart* Mugen*

And re: the TO prelude club...I registered AGES ago but the effin mod never sent me confirmation so that I could start posting so I gave up on them and now frequent other sites like superhonda, preludeonline, preludepower, and preludecrazy. But yeah, the TO club is probably the best for me as it's right here, but I'm too cheap to subscribe.

And I live in Scarborough, so it's not that far from TO. I always go to Formula Honda for all my stuff (I know I'm stupid to go to the manufacturer but I pay a premium to keep everything as original as possible--plus you get warranty on their work! ) but I'm definitely interested in your contacts!

LOL Malek, that's an awesome plan--the pre-emptive strike!

But I think I'll wait it out and see if I get called. Then I can always contest that it wasn't me driving. Yeah, that might not work because it's the CAR that's insured so the insurance company would still increase premiums, but we'll see...I just pray that I don't get a call!

And Protosis, yeah I hear ya. I'm kinda nervous about driving the car around this weekend (in fact, the BULB in the right headlight that's broken STILL WORKS!!! The indicator and everything is fine, believe it or not--just the dented metal clearly shows the collision and that's why I'm fucked for 5 grand

But I'll take my chances...and Margs, thanks for the advice! I don't think I want to go through insurance because I hit the person from behind and that will always be my fault. I can't do that because my insurance is already pretty damn high with the Prelude!

Posted by Swamper on Dec-10-2005 02:28:

Goooooooo mugen!

(Not mine.. mine is all crystal blue metallic - but this one looks SO much better without the license, ugh.

DAMN, I was just about to ask if that was yours!

The reason I may not go with the the Mugen bumper is because I don't have an SH, which has colored side skirts that would look good with the front spolier. I have the oiled rubber skirts and don't want to spend the $500 to get the SHs

DUDE DON'T WAIT, the more you wait, the weirded it'll get for you. They won't believe you. You have to do it now, call the cops, you can do it over the phone.

You gotta act first, because you don't know what can happen, maybe she'll call a hit and run and say she grabbed your plate number... you get my drift here?

Posted by zoogla on Dec-10-2005 02:35:

Dude, my front is fucking damaged...pretty badly...how the hell will I be able to explain that she reversed into me at the speed it would take to cause that kind of damage? I'm not that creative...

I got the sides.. it was about $500 when I bought them years ago too, form Honda. They are a MUST.

Nice dent eh? What a ******. At least he's paying for it, but still.

Only if you pick me up.

Posted by Protosis on Dec-10-2005 02:48:

Just say that when the light turned amber, the driver in front of you paniced and braked hard in very bad road conditions. Focus on her unpredictable driving for the conditions.

Avoid stopping distance at all costs including on the report.

Act stupid, and innocent.

You're not at fault. When the light turns amber you stop only if you can at a reasonable descent. Sounds like she stopped as if it were red.

hehehe

no man, say you had an accident, you hit her, she barely had any damages and run away because of that... or maybe she didn't have a licence and thats why she ran away.

hit and run doesn't mean you're not risponsible.
