I think Danny T would be an eccelent choice for the nex one

you forgot to add "imo"

i loved Deep Dish's one but i DON'T want to hear another one since their style hasn't changed too much. I loved Howell's one and Sasha San Fran was great, thanks to the actual first track (not the intro) by freaky chakra that kicks off the mix.

i thought it was preety obvious. We are all stating only our opinions. There is no universal truth in terms of "best", its all a matter of opinion. Unless we wanna talk "best selling" or somethng like that

Posted by PersianMafia on Dec-12-2005 08:08:

Cattaneo is my next choice for a GU. Him and Sander deserve one. Desyn and Holden could be next.

No way.

Cattaneo does his thing on renaissance. let him be.

Sander.. no.

Desyn just had a balance.. that sucked.

and holden is releasing a new comp early 2006.

I'd say Dave Dresden, too bad his head is too big to fit on the cover.

The only other DJ fitting in the concept and remotely interesting enough to me is Digweed, so I'd say give him another one. Though I'd like to see them putting a fresh face in the series, I sincerely doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Posted by bas on Dec-12-2005 08:22:

Only problem with alot of the DJs mentioned is that they've all had cd's already released this year on different lables. I think GU would try to go for someone that hasn't had anything new in a while. They did it with Danny Howells and it was awesome, they did it with Nick Warren and I threw the cd away

It's a hard choice because Rennaisance has released everyone's cds this year so far, maybe...Luke Fair?

edit
Tom Middleton would be sweet!

Ya, nick warrens gu didnt appeal to all of you trendwhoring techheads.. oops!

i keed, but it didnt cater to that audience.

Luke fair released Os_3 on bedrock earlier this year..

it wasn't anything to write home about...

Shame / Disagreement

No Sander. Sander sucks atm. A GU would be another disappointment.

Posted by 303 on Dec-12-2005 13:56:

Ok, not gonna argue about it, but saying that sander sucks is a bit out there imo

However, i think Anthony Pappa should be given a shot for the upcoming GU for a bit of fresh thinking

Hmm.. it would be a good choice.. hes a talented guy. good live as well..

i just hope he could bring a "big" enough sound...

i want to see fresh faces (in gu/boxed matters). the idea of middleton is good, i want to see boxed being open for funky house again, if bedrock managaed to open up for it then boxed can do it. also would like to see someone like scratch perverts or whatever do one, also would like to ban james lavelle of ever doing one again (if i would want to hear 15 unkle productions/related productions being mixed together, i'd buy some unkle albums and mix them together myself).

Posted by Protege on Dec-12-2005 15:40:

Not Sander, he has his everybody series
Zabs and Cattaneo are on renaissance
Maybe someone like Tom Novy, Pete Heller, or Middleton. Id love it if they got someone like Oliver Lieb to do one, too.

i'd actually really love for oakenfold to do another one (surprise, surprise)... not another oakenfold comp, but another GU oakenfold comp... would love to hear him promote some new stuff.

oakey: if you read this you CANNOT put traffic on it.

Isn't that their artist album that's going to be released on GU, and not a GU mix album?

then after about a thousand listens.. i fell in love with gu17.

+1

GU17 is huge. It took several listens to understand what is it all about. Tenaglia has something very unique and special in his track selections.

I too would like to see from fresh faces. I wouldn't mind seeing a GU from some of these guys:

Tarrentella & Redanka
Lexicon Avenue
Behrouz (although he is more involved with the Yoshitoshi mixes)
D:Fuse
Jerry Bonham
16B (I think he dj's)
