I saw IT for the first time when I was like 12 or so at a friends house. I kept laughing and my friends dad walked into the living room to say stop laughing that's disrespectful
Hmmm.. I still have to see a movie that genuinely scares me, but The Ring 1 had its moments, and I remember My Little Eye having a few good scenes as well.
Oh, and Crossroads of course.
elm street 1 was definetly the scariest. the rest of them sux0red to the max0r
Event Horizon
Aliens
The Others
The Sixth Sense
The Descent
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435625/
One of the best movies of 2005 and probably one of the most scary movies ever. It's about 6 hot chicks that go on a cave expedition and things go horribly wrong. It scared the crap out of me! All my friends that saw it (most of them being horror lovers) all say the same. Some of them couldn't even sleep after seeing it. It's from the same British director as Dog Soldiers. While DS was fun and entertaining, The Descent is horrifying and claustrophobic. It's also put together very very well.
Other than that, the only other movie that ever scared the hell out of me, is Blair Witch Project.
Cabin Fever scared me...
It scared me because of the hour and a half I wasted watching this shit film. In fact, it made me feel like I was watching it for 5 straight hours. Worse movie ever.
Phantasm
Tagline: If this one doesn't scare you, you're already dead! (more)

I think the scariest movies are
Amityville Horror &
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Both based on true stories, I think that's what makes them scarier.
SAW was a great movie
dont know about scary.
