| Then, literally the day before it was due I threw away all my lists and plans and sat down with all the tracks Balance had cleared for me (about seventy total), a bottle of whiskey, and some additional supplements to keep me awake through the night and just did both discs one after the other without thinking about the direction, apart from disc one which I thought should be a bit more chill to begin with in order to ease the listener into the journey. |

Ohhh come one!, ..., no one mentioned Ewan Pearson's Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi??, that was one of the best for sure in 2005
Myk
+1 for White Label Republic
Check out Fundacion for sure, Balance 008, GU28, Zabiela's new renaissance cd and Sander's new Everybody on tour with Lee Burridge.
1. Hawtin DE9 Transitions
2. Sasha - Fundacion nyc
3. Danny Howells GU027 Miami
4. John Digweed - Fabric 20
5. Desyn - Balance 008
As much as the mixing in 008 was eh, I love the fact that Desyn mixed it like he did, instead of using ableton or something like that. The mix is raw and its him as a DJ, getting trashed and enjoying the music he loves while sharing it with other people.
And Fundacion, at the least, gets ranked this high because the mixing is absolutely gorgeous.
Hawtin's CD was just insane.

from the few cd's i've listened to, fabric 20.
fundacion was mediocre at best. utilities wasn't bad but zabiela can clearly do better. gu 27 was quite cool but not memorable. zero gold i could never get into it. balance 007 was very nice, but not solid enough throughout the whole 3 cd's.

def. good ones
I buy tons of mix cd's. There has been a bunch of really good ones this year. Many mentioned above.
But knowbody has mentioned my favorite at the moment.
Steve Lawler 'Lights Out Volume 3'
Love the retro synth sound.
Miami '05 or is that going into proggy.
Everyone's gone all prog here, so to push the boat out a bit:
Above & Beyond - Anjunabeats Volume 3
Ronski Speed - Monster Series Volume #001
Solarstone - Destinations Volume 1
Matthew Dekay - Trousy
Fuse presents Joris Voorn
I agree Steve Lawlers Lights out volume III special edition is the shit.
All three discs are excellent.
Desyn Masiello - Balance 008
Nice to see so many prog mentions on TA. My vote goes to Digweed's Fabric. Balance 8 is quite good too, but not as good as I expected.
yousefs and behrouz cd are fire!
whats the best mix cd from 2005 that sounds like tiesto from 2002 (dutch dimension) & his latest 6 hour set from December 3rd?
