Oi mates ,
dont get me wrong about reason, i've been with the swedes since day 1, and i love the user friendly interface and the most recent upgrades, combinator and mastering suite. Also the fact that producers like Mylo and Prodigy are using nothing but reason for their chops. I'm just tired of searchin for refills, and the no hostin-VST-thingy. and sure you can get better sound using a sound editor like peak or wavelab, all the more better. but im expanding to logic just because its a natural upgrade for any mac user (imo).

any word on when they are supposed to phase out the firewire?!
(psst malek i got 2 firewire AND 3 usb ports MUHAHAH)

Im still probably gonna go for the dell but I have heard some bad things about dell and M-Audio Firewire sound cards. Any suggestions?
Ill probably also be getting M-audio studio monitors.

i wanna get a MAC...but damn no architecture/engineering softwares work on MACs...dont they know that if Autocad could run on Mac they'd be selling 4239865893476236085832501263593245130125393956398 times more computers!?!?!??!?

probably a IBM/Microsoft conspiracy against me.

Dear Markus,

Apple extinguishes FireWire
By ITWeb, 13 December 2005

Apple is about to drop FireWire, the connectivity standard it created and for so long fostered, from the Mac line-up.

Apple is about to drop FireWire ? the connectivity standard it created and for so long fostered ? from the Mac line-up. That's what Apple notebook-orientated Web site O'Grady's PowerPage suggests, without citing specific sources.

Apple has already dropped FireWire from the latest iPods, so it's clearly shifting its allegiance to USB 2.0, which, while technologically inferior to FireWire, is fast enough for almost all PC-peripheral connections, says The Register.

According to O'Grady, the upcoming Intel-based iBooks will lack FireWire and x86 PowerBooks will have a single FireWire 800 port for digital video enthusiasts and professionals to make use of, but 1394, as it's also known, will continue in non-PC applications.

Much regards,

Malek

i got an HP laptop with the following specs:

3.2ghz
1.2gb ram
7200rpm 60gb hard drive
creative soundblaster audigy 2 zs sound card

and i can definitely say that it still doesn't perform the way a good desktop will... even if you use the M-Audio Mobile Pre sound card / interface I still sometimes get errors in Logic... If I use my friend's mac g5... no problems whatsoever.

Posted by Mekroon on Dec-22-2005 00:18:

version anglaise:

desktop rules
pad sucks
mac also, cause theyres no emoticons
