/me agrees with scotty once again

I got a canon Ixus 430 a while ago and never looked back

saw some ad for some tiny new Canon's, IXUSIZ i think they're called? they look rad, small and great quality

Get one with image stablizer - it helps infintely when taking shots at night in night mode (eg for lasers)

There is a shit hot Konica minolta out at the moment thats 8 megapixel for about 550, very compact and a massive LCD screed

As Dave said, the whole "megapixel" thing is a bit of a farce. Even disregarding all the others factors once your res is over 3.2 the quality is only really evident when you enlarge them.

Id look at something around 4mg, made in japan with a good lens; ring trev when you know what model you want and he'll look after you

I got a 3 and a 4 mega pixel camera and to me there seems to be a huge difference, if you can, spend that extra couple of dollars, because its something you are stuck with for a long time

if your a pimp like myself, you can buy a new one every time you run out of space on your memory card
its called a disposable digital camera, and it only costs me $900 a week, i spend more on chest waxings and tattoos

sony.. overpriced and pretty crappy 100% describes them! well i dunno if i'd say crappy, but definitely average, yet they're priced at the top or above. <3

I got a Digital camera as a present for my 21st, shit thing is I didnt get a good memory card that holds heaps of photos.....
Whats the highest storage a memory card can hold & how much is it roughly? And are there any better quality memory cards you can get compared to others....? Or are they all the same.

Cheers!

You may find they have a different grade of lens on top of being higher res tho. I had a 3.2 and a 4 and couldnt tell the diff in terms of res becuase the F rating was the same on both.

There are alot of factors that make a good camera, the res once over 4mp (assuming you do not need a3 shots) is actually the least important.

Lens, processing and stablizer all contribute more to a good photo.

What can you suggest for around $800

It depends on how u will use it most benny, do u need a large zoom or would you prefer a smaller camera?

Will you be doing any macro photography or will you be enlarging your shots?

Mostly club work, not really going for a compact approach, Not too big either..

Wont be enlarging the pics either

Id go an canon Ixus50, click here text trev and get him to give u a price, should be really good value.

Alot of ppl buy high spec'd stuff but never need what the item actually does so dont buy features/specs you dont need.

The only difference between this and the Ixus55 is 1/2inch bigger lcd screen (which uses more battery anyway) and more advanced macro ability, which u probably wont need. The Ixus 55 is also about $120 more btw.

id agree with recommending an ixus, a friend has one and it's AMAZING.. and soooo small. it's like credit card size but thicker. and EXCELLENT quality
http://www.canon.com.au/products/ca...italixus50.html

although im gonna get a powershot, it's a bit bigger, still pretty small though.. i guess take a look and see for yourself
http://www.canon.com.au/products/ca...ershota610.html
retails around $400... could get the a620, higher MP for a bit more since you're wanting to spend more anyways
+blow another $100 (havent checked retail but prolly something like that) on nimh batteries+charger
+blow another $100-200 on 1gb/2gb sd card...

There is a 15GB memory card on the market at the moment for a cool $1k which is insane.

You can generally buy a decent memory card for $50 to $100 and that will store depending on the brand and the quality you want around 256MB to 516MB.
