I don't think that you can get a record deal easily with Fruityloops, Reason or Sonic Syndicate Orion only. All of those programs has flaws but I think Reason is after all the best prog. for making those quality tracks. Proficient person can make some awesome stuff with Fruityloops also and what comes to Orion, I've heard some awful stuff made with it but I personally think that Orion is awesome and that's why I bought it, only 99$ .
The biggest problem in Reason is that it doesn't support VST-Instruments, that's why I would choose fruityloops. Orion has the best VST-Instrument support but It's also pretty hard to make songs with it cos' it runs out of memory soon if you import lot's of synths.

So I recommend this: use Reason if you think you don't need extra plugins, VST:s etc. The program itself has very good synth generators and pads/string sounds but still not quite good enough, atleast for me.Reason has clearly the best own sound bank of these three softwares and I've heard that Brian Transeau himself praised this program.

Fruityloops is awesome choice also. It's easy to use and you can make great sounding sawleads, warm sounding pads and solid strings with it. It also supports VST:s and I know a one very famous trance song where Fruityloops has been used a lot. Still I hardly ever use Fruityloops' own samples but I do make strings/pads and some loops with it.

If you demand good sounding delays, reverbs, trancegate and phaser sounds from a software, go buy Orion. It also provides excellent sounding leads if you learn to use Wavedream. I think it's the best software Synth Generator ever made.
If you love acid sounds then Orion is must because its TB303 bassline generator is awesome. IMO it beats ReBirth and Fruityloops can't get even close in 303 sounds. Orion also has the best sampler ever made in software. Of course it can't beat the professional samplers like Halion but if you import good quality wav-samples in Orion sampler, you can make really awesome things with it. It would be nice to demonstrate you with some sound examples but I've got really bad experiences of attaching samples so I won't bother . Also Orion's VSTi:s support is excellent, sometimes it's just a bit buggy but updates has usually fixed the problems. Orion lacks in strings and pads sounds and it doesn't have sample banks at all but all the Orion
synth generators are high-quality and if you have good sample CD:s, you can just import the waves to Orion sampler.

So I quess I'm just trying say that use the program that works best for you .For me it's the Sonic Syndicate Orion but it's just the matter of taste (and maybe price .

p.s don't use ejay progs. They are just cheating and you will not develope as a producer if you use them. For a beginner I'd like to suggest FastTracker 2, it's free but I quess tracking times are past these days. FT2 has been a very demanding but excellent teacher and I would not be where I am now without it .

You just like Orion because you're more used to using it than you are with FL. I think you need more of a creative perspective rather than useless pessimism.

true but same said for Fruity

when it comes down out of the 3 well known all in one music creaction programs

Fruityloops would come in third, second would be Orion and the top would be Reason, thats if costs don't come into it.

Fruityloops is ok, its simple to use handles well but it really lacks in Quality in the samples. Its a nice tool if you were to import your own sounds or samples but the Reverb and EQ and all the other FXs just don't sound great, but it can handle VST

Orion is a nice tool, if you like and use Fruity, grab you self Orion to, also easy to use and a nice layout but its very unstable on some systems. The Quality is better then Fruity and the 303s sound great and also handles VST

Reason, this is reall Pro production software, I have even seen people in real studios use Reason as a small part of there productions
and I'm not talking about Trance, movie thems TV productions.............. and so on.
ok you say what about VST suport? well it don't need it cause Reason can be used with any product that suports Rewire( Cubase VST) wich would give one of the most powerfull software setups you can have

Fruity Rocks! PERIOD!!!

Just because u dont understand it doesnt make it bad!

Posted by breakaholic on Jan-20-2002 16:44:

I must say that my view of these softwares wasn't totally objective because I don't have that much experience with Reason but I based my statements to the quality of songs I've heard so far and to my own tests. I've used fruityloops since version 1.65 or something was popular and that software has developed a lot from those times. I started using Orion a bit later so I know these 2 progs well. There's no doubt that which one is the best if you don't use external plugins or samples, It's Reason and Orion would be the worse eventhough soundquality is better than in FL. Pete made a good point about the compatibility with Cubase VST and that makes Reason even more powerful...

the thing about fruity is that it lacks the Pro sound, you can tell a fruityloops track a mile away from its strange sounding Reverb it producers

Nah!

Goto http://www.tranceaddict.com/singles.shtml

And Download Parker -Beams of Gaia (hardtrance mix)

Well the only problem i am having with fruity is how the CPU level shoots up to like 90-100% and I cannot hear the song playing clearly, but other then that it is cool. I suppose I can use rewire and transport it to Reason but dont know alot about all of that uet.. This is only when I use most vst instruments...

the dancer blame it on the dancefloor...

ANyways there are many pro producers like Ozgur who have made kick ass tracks in Fruity, let alone a records deal

Yeah, here's what he had to say about his studio setup in one trance.nu interview:

quote:
ive been producing since late 96 but that doesnt really count cuz i was only playing around in fasttracker 2 for a few years trying to make music. around 98 i got introduced to Fruityloops, and my Dad had got me a sample cd with loads of WAV samples i have no idea where he got it from he just though it could be usefull to me so i checked it out and voila! WAV samples to use in fruityloops! but it got a bit more serious around 2001 when i started finding my sound. my "studio" setup is pretty simple : i still use fruityloops + loads of vsts and plugins, soundforge for editing stuff and i use cubase sometimes for small things like timestretching vocals and stuff like that.

Guys, why do you even bother to reply to such thread???!??

Waste of time, period.
