its not something i have 'just' realised.. it is something that i felt should be explained, or pointed out rather, due to the question being raised about the state of trance in melbourne.

i ask people this.. how are we supposed to unite melbourne's uneducated people and bring them to our side to support us, when fcuk me, we cant even support ourselves!!!! our little catty community is part of the problem to begin with... it annoys the hell out of me, because with me, what you see is what you get... i will support someone who is doing better then me, or who is getting gigs that i am not getting, because it is all in the name of the scene progressing, which ultimately will benefit me eventually too..

too many cheifs, not enough indians, and some of the people who consider themselves cheifs treat the indians like shit and the resentment builds.. the people at the top of this so called internal food chain, need to realise they're no better then the people who are buying or selling the tickets to fill the clubs.. they need to pull their heads out of their arses and get real.. otherwise this really all will be a TA forum posting community and nothing else!!!

everyone who might possibly think this could relate to them, dont dismiss it.. consider the fact that it probably does, and take it on board.. because your attitude could change things.. even just a little bit!!

this is very true.

if i had a dollar for every time i'd attempted to work with or get to know (personally or professionally) someone on this forum only to be f'd off, disinvited, ignored, have them run off with my girlfriend, etc, i'd have enough money to buy a toupee.

I wonder how many other people like me come along full of enthusiasm and energy, running from one person to the next saying 'yo, want my help? what can i do? anything at all man, let me help you succeed because i like what you're doing!' just to be told 'no man, I don't need your help, thanks'.

Trance isn't dead, guys, I play my Anjunabeats and Euphonic records to full dancefloors for money almost every weekend, and I know from the feedback I get from punters that there's still plenty who love to hear it when its presented the right way.

If this scene is dead, its because those of you who chose not to open your eyes to new ideas and new blood killed it with the mistaken idea that you didn't need the help of those of us (and I'm speaking for a few on here I know) who were willing to offer constructive criticism, feedback and assistance. And that's a shame.

No offence man but what are you going on about? i dont get that.. the scene is dead my friend because of the consistency in rivalry, backstabbing, etc on a 1 to 1 level. Every dj is in the scene for himself and he will do anything to stay at the top. how long do people really last in a community fueled by rumours and he said she said bullshit.

You guys really wanna help your scene? Get to know your promoters and your djs, because 9 times out of 10, theyre probably talking shit about you right now.

Nothing is going to survive on a mass scale if the only way people better themselves is to put down others. Before you preach to me about how you're all about new blood etc, maybe people dont help others because everybody else is doing it for themselves, and the only way to last in the scene is to follow this way of life.

Somebody had to say it.

thats a more details version of what i said!!! part of the problem is internal, with the personal dynamics and bullshit and mudslinging that goes around, and the general bad way we treat each other.. some of the acts that have been occuring lately are also an indigtment of the way society is progressing too (but they're not entirely relevant to this discussion).

i think the aim is to attempt to work together so as to not have this rivalry mindset.. Communities work together..

okay considering that i am relatively new to these boards and what has been going on i am not going to comment about the rivalry and so forth that soups and a few others mentioned.

something i will comment on is this; so many times i have heard people say that they are sick of the formulaic trance being produced these days and that more classics should be played from the glory days of trance. why is this not happening? when the top dj's come out they play classic songs and the crowds go nuts, a perfect example of this was BT at godskitchen.

kathy's song is choon but.

It died when the DJ's stopped dancing, when chins were being stroked fashionably and everyone turned into promoters.

Its all there, but unfortunatly the house scene is dominating everything at the moment, find what attracts people to house music and there is your answer.

Nobody is better than anyone in this scene.

Find a new audience if the one you have has turned sour.

I can here the groans at me responding...

What attracts people (read girls) to house music is that they can sing along as they dance. The house music that is around at moment is really melodic as well where as the trance I here out is boring same beat stuff.

DJ's seem to think that tracks have a shelf life of 6 months max before it gets old and dated when really if it was a great track back then, we all agree its still a good track..... so PLAY IT!

I dont think trance music at the moment can be considered party music. All my friends say they love trance at home or in the car but it would bore the shit out of them if they heard it played for a whole night at a club. The vibe and energy (not NRG) in trance productions is sorely lacking at the moment and while there may be good music by chinstroker standards going around it doesnt really make you want to move.

...that probably made no sense but i cant be bothered reading it again cos its so damn hot!!

Posted by queen_vee on Dec-30-2005 02:23:

OMG!! I didn't know there was so little love between crews! So much fighting! Trance is about PLUR, where is the PLUR??

Anyways, I had this wicked idea last night whereby Future/Gatecrasher/and say the Obsession team (with the idea that team would then present all the trance stages at Future parties/other large parties...) put on a huge massive enormous par-tay, kind of celebrating the latest Gatecrasher Classics CD released whereby no DJ fears dropping 'real' anthems, along with future anthems (and maybs a few fillers ) I know Gatecrasher has a stage at Adventjah, but not everyone went to Ballarat, and it was only late in the piece the stage was 'presented' by Crasher wasn't it??

There's enough branding to draw in a crowd (including old skoolers from 2001 and earlier who want to relive the glory days), plus the kids that hit the dancefloor every weekend now, plus a few noobs would be dragged along for the ride and probably love every minute cos the crowd would be LARGE, the music would be GOOD, the lasers will be REACHED FOR!!

Yeah anyways, I'm no promoter. The idea could suck balls.

Posted by batemanscott on Dec-30-2005 02:35:

Vee, its a good idea but "Oracle" (adventjah) own the contract to GC now and future wont touch GC with a 10 ft poll

Posted by Aesthetic on Dec-30-2005 03:03:

I agree, that was a good idea actually.

Touche.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Dec-30-2005 03:12:
