Do drugs at raves

Posted by Azz3D on Jan-06-2006 03:43:

drugs are everywhere
go to a proper rock concert and see what goes on there
i don't mean pussy shit like dashboard confessional

it just to happens that "techno" events got the most media coverage and bad reputation when it comes to drugs and now everyone's brainwashed thinking that you will die once you step foot into a proper electronic party

Gotta love how the dealers at aria actaully work for aria.

there's nothing wrong with partying with people on e or coke, but when they are so fu-cked up they can't keep their composure and act presentable in public, that's just embarassing and unsettling to be around. i'm talking about the people who just do the washing machine, stare endlessly at shiny things, talk your fu-cking ear off all night, sneak up and massage you (complete strangers!), and generally act stupid. i've partied on e and coke and so have my friends, but none of us have ever gotten that out of control... you can party on drugs without looking like you're on drugs.

Posted by stefanoc on Jan-06-2006 06:06:

drugs are nothing new to electronic music/dance/whatever you call it.

the reason why i think e is connected with raves is because it really expands the imagination or something.

i think of it this way. you hear electronic sounds, your brain processes them in a way that u either enjoy or not. some do enjoy certain sound while others dont. if on drugs, ur imagination is so large that ull enjoy and understand every sound.

i really dont care about ppl being on drugs at gigs/parties im in as long as they have control over themselves and not OD. actually everyone was soooo cool at TIC in LA even if they were on drugs. way nicer than ppl can be when sober!

Techno is to blame for al the drugs in the clubs; not trance.

I even dare to state that most of the TRUE trance listeners don't take drugs.

But raves get such a negative connotation because they(police; government, ...) associate electronic dance music automaticially with drugs; so trance shouldn't be the black sheep at all.

Why blame a genre for drug usage, in fact...why blame anything or anyone for usage. If you really want to find a blame for drug usage then blame it on the users,...and even then...blaming something would suggest they do something wrong. Wrong in who's eyes and for what reasons?

Are people to blame for personal choices they make which should not have any negative effects on others, unless they misuse. Which is another sad finding we have to make, as with everything, there is use and misuse,...and its a pity the people who know nothing about drugs categorise others immediately as misusers whilst many themselves drink til they can't walk anymore and start annoying people around them.

People often blame governments for not reacting strongly enough upon usage, I think they are more so to blame for the poisoning of the narrow-minded public by misinformation regarding drugs.

About the true trance listeners I agree half with you Yes in the case if the user can not enjoy trance without drugs, not at all in the case the user's first love is trance and takes something to maximise the feeling, so I've seen in the case of some friends who sometimes take E whilst listening to trance.

PS, Push, by no means is this directed against you or so, but you know that already

I made a thread about this same topic a while back. I got some interesting answers.

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Jan-06-2006 16:08:

The Government wants to crack down on drugs.

The Government does not want to alienate their friends at Sony, BMG and Universal.

Sony, BMG and Universal don't want their disgustingly lucrative pop/rock/rap groups. They don't give a damn about trance/techno/jungle/etc.

The Government releases propaganda against drug use at raves, but pop/rock/rap concerts are praised as paragons of unpstanding citezenship, despite the fact that drug use is rampant in all venues.

The Masses are averse to raves, and pop/rock/rap becomes more popular.

It's a cycle.

Although in mainstream rap, drug use is actually promoted as it makes the rappers seem more "thug." Go figure.

Raves are demonized as musical dens of iniquity because about 5-10% (maybe even less) of the people at the rave are rolling on E. There's even legislation now (the aptly named RAVE act) which essentially makes the host of any event where people are using drugs the dealer of those drugs, whether the host knew they were there or not.

The cops hate raves. That's why you don't see really big trance shows, and that's why big arenas wouldn't be caught dead hosting one.

Do only people listening to Trance do drugs? When and where do people listening to Rock / Hip Pop / Rap do drugs? And why not such concerts with drug use are banned ?!!

i disagree with everything uve just said.
Most of the music is made by people who take drugs the dance scene was built up around drugs without drugs the dance scene wouldnt exist not the other way round.
As for people taking drugs in a club ur looking at 90% i dont meet many people not on something and i dont thing coppers could careles about clubs they dont ever look like they want to be there its a coppers dream get 1000 people who take illegal substances lock them in a building and let them do what they want all night they not harming anyone else. The only reason police raid premises is cause of pressure from the public to do something it makes good headlines in the newspaper 99% of the time there wont be any police at an event anyway they only turn up for big events.

I always wanted to know what Drug is?

Is it a way of life, or is it to get away from life?

Posted by Synthesia on Jan-06-2006 18:05:

What are drugs? All the things you probably consider as drugs AS WELL AS alcohol, tobacco, medicine, dietary supplements, etc. So everybody takes "drugs"

And to answer your question, I guess it is a part of life, just as you drink a glass of alcohol.

If drugs start controlling your life then that is abuse of drugs

It dosen't matter what music you listen to, drugs are there.

You think Jimmy Page wasn't fucked off his head? Think again.

i say up to 80% percent roll on E and 25% take speed and if not mistaken almost 15% add special K to their menu
