Hey Rich,

Nice work on this one.
Agreed it's very M.I.K.E. not sure about Push (Yes I know they are the same person).

Would love to have a bash at remixing this, got something on the boil that would work with this so if you are up for it send us a mail.

Cheers
Karl

Motherfucking bass. I love this already.

Bass is kinda interfering with that pad. Look into that, I think.

You really need more in the perc layers. Especially up in the high end. This track has no real energy, and that seems to be what it's going for. Some more percussion would help with that.

Posted by richg101 on Jan-15-2006 13:12:

cheers guys for the replies

takkra - glad you liked mate. i thought it might appeal to ya.

speactra - thanks for your comments. it has been re equed and now the percs are more upfront glad you found it dark and progressive.

karl - id love you to rmx this mate! im prepairing a rmx pack at present for dj palm so ill give you the link aswell..

jex - thanks man! i always fail on the bass usually..

my next track will be much more energy filled. loads of percs and dark atmosphere!

cheers again mates

Hey Richard, I feel a bit guilty not having reviewed much of your stuff considering that you have reviewed mine

So sorry for that hehe

Ok, listening now.

Nice subby bass with a cruchy bassline.
Right off the bat I can see that it could do with more higher frequencies in the final master to loose the "boxed in" feeling. But thats just a mastering thing so back to the actual track

Nice disted square? at 1min. I like the the strings sliding into the music at around 1:54, lovely stuff. Good synth sequence at 2:28.

I'd like something more to happen at 4 min, maybe try cranking up those strings and add more of them?

Nice at 5:20, good energy there.

I think this track mainly needs a bit more variations, but it sounds good so far

Posted by richg101 on Jan-16-2006 11:05:

thanks for the review drik.

the distorted square is a d+b style square i made

i have remastered and its much more open and full now

cheers

Can I also have a try on a remix?

Posted by DJ Dinz on Jan-17-2006 17:04:

I LOVE IT!

can i have the full version to spin?? very wicked & dark trance!

cool!

the mentalists who wanted a rmx of this....

check your pm's

rich

Posted by richg101 on Jan-19-2006 16:44:

phat track!

you done the track proud mate! i was getting well into it and then the sample ended

you have taken my chilled original and made it your own great drive as i expected and theres loads of potential. i think my main melody would sound better as a subtle flavour cos the track sounds awsome and i feel the melody is a bit trancy for the techy style.

i love the percs the most. and when the bassline sample comes in it really works amazin!

you have used the pack i sent to its full without sticking to the original sound at all..

im excited!

rich

Sounds great palm, amazing percussions!!!

Here is my first day sample
http://s17.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=...2I19PXIVVPG2MC9

But I think that mine is'nt yet that hard & dark enough, We'll see...

Posted by skylined on Jan-19-2006 19:42:

its well produced and the sound is nice, but I found the song itself to be quiet boring... the same tones back and forth
well, thats according to my taste

Review

Intro - Kick and bass are cool, percussion sounds ok, dont know wut happens during the early parts of the intro... sorry i dont like how it stops there. As things progress the pads and synths are cool but imo it needs more element in the percussion and some alteration to the synths...

Breakdown - Does not really do much here, no main melody or something to remeber the composition about and sounds the same as the intro. the ayla lead gets slightly annoying and repedative...

Outro/Other - A change in the pads, i like that, again it sounds the same as the rest of the composition.

Conclusion/Other - I like the mastering but imo much more could be done, i like the basics but its so empty. Keep working.

Behold, my arse.

Posted by richg101 on Jan-20-2006 17:56:

hey speactra!

you have also done a fine job mate

really original in sound and great percs/kick. more trancy than mr palms rmx.

i love everything about it. apart from the bass synth that comes in at 0;28. i think it clashed with the techy sound that works so well.

maybe a different bass im not sure..

break is lush! you used the dark basspad to its full effect. i like the synth strings pads that accompany it. very nice sound.

loving both equally i think. and both i cant wait to play they both have so much orignallity in overal style and you make my track your own. really enjoyable guys im happy!

rich

I'm glad you liked it Rich!

I've already reworked that bass synth you're talking about... And I also switched the notes on it to a little more darker feeling...
I'll post a new sample here soon...

This makes me happy too, I have never enjoyed remixing a tune this much!
It's really fun!

Palm: Thanks! I'm using Ableton Live. A PM has been sent..

Thumbs up

i've listened to this track and tbh i was very suprised... maybe because it was first your track i've ever heard...
as someone already mentiond it's quite M.I.K.E.ish... anyway i like the mood of this track, also nice progression after good intro caught my attention...

well done mate

Maciek

Posted by Aesthetic on Jan-22-2006 08:14:

Had to have a listen to this as people were making a liking toward MIKE, who i love =)

yeah i can definately hear the similarities there dude.. very brooding work. i think to achieve a fuller sound you might want to add a few countermelodies in the background. mike usually does this, or has some sort of progression running around the melodies to accentuate each change.

nice job though mate, keep it up

Posted by richg101 on Jan-22-2006 10:04:

thnks guys!

nice to have people commenting on my tune. im very happy people seams to like it.

please check out dj palms and speactra's rmx's of this. they are wicked!

(slightly further up the page)

thanks again guys!

rich

Posted by Nemesis44 on Jan-22-2006 13:28:

Seeing as the others have posted their work in progress I thought that I can't be outdone he he.

I have tried to keep the MIKE feel with the track but it's still a work in progress so it may change a whole lot yet.

Tone Washed - Nem Remix

Posted by Speactra on Jan-22-2006 19:21:

Ok, here's another sample. I'm now using your orignal bass, but I think that I'm going to make my own...

Richard Gale - Tone/washed [Speactra's Remix] Sample 2

Nemesis - Very trancy mix you've got! I like your ideas, but your drums need to be louder.
I'm sure that you've fixed that in the final version.

Posted by richg101 on Jan-22-2006 21:49:

karl - you have really got that mike sound. more mike ish than the original. i love the atmospheres you have conjoured up epic aswell. ill comment more when i have listened properly on my monitors and not on the built in pc speakers.

speactra - this sounds great. i love your breakdown bigtime!. and before the breakdown is so my style! i played on the run on my latest set. it went really well

please can you do a dub version that only goes as far as when the break comes in. and then after the break it goes along the same lines? like a progressive more minimal affair. i really like all these rmx's.

lookin forward to palms update

rich
