Then you are an oddball down there. When I go down there and am around saying Hella, people always comment on it saying how I must be from NorCal and ask why do we say it, lol.

I moved here in Nov 1999, started work in January 2000...and had Hella fluenty in my vocabulary by mid-Feb 2000, lol.

Using that logic....

I think Seattle sucks, cuz my friends who lived there or visited there at one point hates it with a passion. It's enough for me to stay away from there

It's fun to bash idiotic close minded thinking

Hey you!

GET BACK TO WORK!

As far as topic goes, I'll be gracing L.A. with my dark presence so I say L.A. will be the better of the two.

SF!!

SF all the way. I lived here all my life. living is great, Atmosphere is second to none, I have never had an issue with driving in SF. The House music is way better, The clubs are more organized and you actually get in with pre sale, 2 of my friends moved to SF cus they wanted to get away from LA, LA chick are hotter but its obvious why, LA is too big, Bay area has the wine country, LA has too much traffic, LA people cant drive on the street and take too long to make a damn right turn, (hollywood especially), YOu cannot get lost in SF ever, Joof, PVD, ATB all love SF, LOVE PARADE!!!!! Need i say more!!??

BTW, placing SF before LA in your subject post finalizes your descision. haha

hahaha, ok, dont flame me now!! haha i was born in SF. Love my city!!

Ok, I just went up for a trip in SF and living in Los Angeles all my life, I have to say San Francisco is different, much different. Some aspects I liked, others I hated...and the ones that I hated really outweighed the ones that I liked. I agree that where you grow up in will always have a much larger sentimental value than anywhere else, so I totally understand the defense from both cities. I personally hate people in los angeles, most of the people that I've met (not the TA's) are close minded, very unware what is going on beyond this bubble of the united states. As far as scenery, weather and wildlife is concerned (which is something I really value in a place) Los Angeles COUNTY (not city) has some of the best. You will find me at the various beaches, either swimming or in the tidepools watching crabs, hiking on the various mountains situated around my hometown of Glendale (city just north of los angeles), driving up on highway 1 by point mugu to catch the sunset and even the stars (saw the celestial cloud of the milky way with my own eyes), highway 2 through the angeles national forest to catch the snow during winter or maybe get away from the city life, or even going out into the mojave/colorade desert in Joshua tree for a great star seeing hiking experience. There is no other place that I have been to that offers this much to do in a natural setting. Somethings I hate about LA, cannot be in downtown passed sundown (if you want to stay alive), don't expect air quality to be good even 3 days after it rains, expect alot of traffic when traveling through the interstates of LA (Although I have found that being a passive driver I have no trouble at all) also, LA has various different ethnic groups and usually will have alot of influence in that area. I know glendale by far has got to be one of the most ethnically diverse places in all of los angeles, on one side its bad because of racism and conflict, on the other side you learn and become aware of what is outside your ethnic group. Now, going up north was really a large contrast, especially SF. First off, I hate cold weather, I love palm springs and the coachella valley, it was way too cold for me in NorCal. I am used to living in a very open environment with large distances to go, and always somewhat able to see views. In SF, I felt closterphobic, especially in the area kinda south of Haight street. I noticed that NOBODY was at the beaches, I did want to check them out, but my group didnt have enough time. Oh and haight street was somewhat of a trip in itself, I have never seen a contrast of classes of people quite like this one, you have stores such as A&F, A&E, GAP and outside people holding signs that they refuse to work. I swear when the sun went down, I was asked at least 30 times if i wanted to buy bud. Also, I noticed at least that area was not too ethnically diverse, no where near what LA is. On the way there, on 80 crossing the Bay bridge, and after where you meet the 101, we were stuck in traffic, usually I have no problem, but I have never seen drivers as agressive as this, in a sense I was shocked! I saw this as well in the downtown area, people making turns in a lane that was straight, cutting people off...again I am a passive driver, usually in LA it happens but not as frequently in 1 night as it did then. If you like a lively downtown area, SF is for you, I have never seen so many people out at night in the downtown area, a DIRECT opposite from LA. Again though, cold brrrr. I wanted to checkout chinatown, but due to time, was not possible next time though . Everything is more green in Norcal, air quality is great in the cities and cows!! I can't live there, but for sure a great place to visit. If you have any questions on los angeles, I am confident I can answer them. Oh and I really loved how SF used crabs for their storm drains as the logo

I don't think it gets "winter jacket" cold...but definetly long sleeves and a jacket of some kind. State's full anyway, don't bother coming.

+1 amazing pictures! Really shows alot of different aspects, I really love the ocean ones and the forest ones, not to mention on the monterey aquarium (still have yet to go there)

We somewhat tradeoff greenery in norcal mountains and plains for sand and brown in so cal mountains and plains, again...matters what your preferences are! Again, amazing pics!

ok. so being from sacto and visiting SF many times with friends and now living in orange county i can honestly say that SF and LA have 1 thing in common. they have lots of traffic. thats it. although i can somewhat agree with the previous posts it can be less at times but at other times its WORSE. as previously said the drivers are VERY aggressive (i am used to it as i drive this way). also the thing that sucks about SF is that it is cold as fuck if you hate the cold. i cant tell you how many times i have been there and wished i brought MORE clothes. i even bought a jacket once. the weather here is the best i have ever experienced. i am planning on living here for the rest of my life as i LOVE it here. the weather, beaches, night life, ladies, and more healthy lifestyle (less fat people per capita compared to sac) and as previously mentioned SD and Mexico are very close. also theres the snow resorts 2hrs away. then theres LA 45mins away. no matter which way you go you are less than 2hrs away from a serious nightlife or a days worth of just sight seeing. with all that has been said, at the end of the day you must make the decision. i can say there are things i dont like here...but they are very few. also one thing that is a plus is as said previous is housing cost. you can rent a 1 bdrm apartment a few miles from the beach for $900. to get a good location in SF its 2-3 times that. theres also more opportunity here for younger people who are in school or are just trying to start a new life here than in SF because of the housing cost.

Having lived in both areas....SF has to be the better.

SF pros.
Great people to party with, very friendly.
Can get a perscription for bud
Great views
less traffic

Cons

If your walking...get ready for some messed up hills to walk
parking
cold, but it prolly doesnt apply to you because DC is far colder
Not nearly as many hot females..they are there but a 9 in SF is like a 7 in socal

LA pros

only 2 weeks of rain and maybe a week or two of 100*+ weather in summer.
Female ratio is far better
Close to a lot of fun things to do
Quality of the females...woah

Cons

TRAFFIC...its awful ( OC is better taken care of but plenty of traffic)
Smog
The roads suck
Partying...there is a lot more cliques
You will need a car

Either one you pick, its not hard to find something to do..and you can take the drive to either place if you really want to (~6 hour drive)
