yup and this is why im against so many of the dumb laws. People say "jay why do you care?" and i say "because if we dont stop them now it will affect us even more in the future".

Well then, welcome to the future.

No Tiesto, no Danny T...... no major Temporal Rhythm Events - WTF!!!!

System has chosen a bad time to close......if this is the long standing case.

WELCOME TO THE GUVERNMENT!!

Sad and depressing news for sure.....

Hopefully it is temporary.......crosses fingers

dude there's other clubs in this city

and do you honestly fuckin think Tiesto and Danny T will ONLY play at the Docks??

Posted by tonybologna on Jan-11-2006 05:53:

You guys still have:
The guvernment
Boa's
270 Spadina coming up
the CZ

Plus nights at Footwork, This is London, Viva, Hotel Boutique etc.

You still have a pretty healthy scene compared to many places.

If Tiesto or Danny T want to come to Toronto, they'll find a place to do it.

obviously there are other clubs...I am well aware. But do the DJ's want to play there????

the last few times both of these DJ's played was at the Docks - so why the rolling of the eyes...for fux sakes.....I am sure there was a reason for this (DOCKS being the choice of Main Venue)- and all you smart ones can elaborate on that as I am sure you will since everyone is expert on TOTA.

....

all-nite-freak, i'm not with you on this, alcohol is a big plus for a club.

afterhours wouldn't be empty on residents night if there was alcohol.

especially since the scene is not cohesive enough to work together to sustain itself - agreed.

Is Republik too small for Tiesto or Danny T? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think not. If Tiesto played at Circus, he can play at Republik.

How do you know they don't want to, and couldn't? Do you honestly think it's all based on "preference" of Docks over all the other clubs here?

I guess he could play there.....great venue for sure..... but tickets would be astronomical to make up for the lack of patron numbers vs DJ fee for performing. You would go from a 4000-5000 person venue to 1,000 or so.

How much was Danny T@Boa Redux?

wasn't it like 60-80? And I'm betting it was pretty packed.

do you even know???

please elaborate then Peter......

I think the Docks gave Tiesto a better deal for his performances there and Danny T has already PUBLICALLY said he would not play the Guvernment - these are things that are out there known....

feel free to add your inside info to this debate - although I was mearly stating an observation and possible predicament in venue choices for future DJ gigs...

thx

and that was alot to do with soundsystem and other factors.....

I am aware of him playing Boa - but I have also seen that the hype over the new spaces is not near what it had been previously.

IMO

Why won't Danny T play at the Guv?

Posted by Sean Cassidy on Jan-11-2006 06:11:

not to mention

in 2005

We had Docks, Guvernment, System, Boa.......all on top of the games this time last year....

1 out of 4 left...

huge depression in spaces available.

i never said that not having alcohol was a bonus. If the place attracts big names why not try.A big name will draw booze or not and you cant dispute that.

many rumours/truths floating out there....

Jayx1 would know...I'm sure.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Jan-11-2006 06:14:

Whether or not we have other clubs left is entirely besides the point. So what if we have 4 other clubs left? Before NYE we had 5...

Posted by malek on Jan-11-2006 06:15:

a diva would never play at a cheezy place like the Guv.

True, but they'll still lose significant profits from the people who like to drink inside the club, and they'll have to factor in those lost profits by increasing ticket prices, and that WILL reduce the attendance.

Dude, all I'm saying is that it's not the end of the world. Those Dj's will be back; whether it's the Docks that brings them in or not, they'll be back. There's other very suitable clubs in this city for Danny Tenaglia and Tiesto, such as Boa, Sonic, This Is London, and Kool Haus/Guvernment.

Of course I'm fully aware of Danny T's disliking for Guv (don't blame him, either) so I guess that leaves 2 or 3 other clubs for him.

LMAO!

some truth to that I think...

DANNY T - WOOT!

DIVAS DESTROY THE DANCEFLOOR

Posted by all-nite-freak on Jan-11-2006 06:19:

Danny T would fit in at 270 no?

Posted by infinity HiGH on Jan-11-2006 06:19:

Danny T played Guv once apparently, and didn't like it at all; and didn't come back to Toronto until Boa brought him in, in 2004.
