There are some simple rules that will teach you to deal with this without having to bust out the calculator, plus knowing your tunes goes a long way.

So if i had 2 records both in C and 100BPM, however one was pitched to 105BPM and the other was 106BPM, they would be in different keys right? I know they wouldnt be beatmatched just using a bad example. Sorry if confusing. |
this is exactly what I was after since I found the sticky quite unhelpful.
Cheers Nbrablec9 because alot of my questions have been answered here
Hey, thanks for the Help everyone , but i do have one more question.. Isnt major and minor somewhat important? I was reading this chart -- http://www.harmonic-mixing.com/charts/keychart.mv
and by the looks of it, major and minor is somewhat needed? Just wondering. I know you were saying that its heard by ear, but would you consider the darker deeper side of the key board to be one or the other ...happy. for the higher , sad for lower...

However the majority of trance music is mostly in minor so it's not much of an issue. The Mix from C minor to D# minor can be used to great effect and will give you a great lift of energy, whilst there are certain types transitions that wont work with it. There is also no such note as Fb (F flat) as there is no space between E and F in the chromatic scale. Will update later. Cheers Nem |
