Supply and demand people. These DJ's make buku cash every nite they spin...i was paying $5 3 yrs ago to see Sander at arc...now the man makes 35K a nite at crobar...do the math...as these guys grow in popularity, the charge the venue more and therefore entrance goes up...these guys were just getting big when Twilo was around...now look at Coxy and Diggers and PvD...they're names are known in America now, not just in the UK and Europe...

To Old: NEVER

I'm 41. Plus I have 4 kids. One is 18 and he has a hard time keeping up with me. My husband, yes husband is 22, and we have the time of our lives together, seeing PVD from Boston to Miami. We love what we do and we love our kids so if I need a walker then so be it. Hopefully, not the weekend of March 3 & 4th because we are going to have an excellent time that weekend. I've been coming to NYC since the Palladium was around so I guess I may never stop. I just now prioitize a little better than I did 20 some years ago. Oh, and my six year old daughter is in love with PVD. Must take after her mom.

Now I know Paul makes a lot each gig, but after you pay for the cost of the party, what kind of profit margins do you think they are getting? (Too much)
if that was the case, then economic theory suggests that competitors would be entering the market. However, it is likely that there are sufficient barriers to entry to prevent this from happening.

So what can we do? Start our own club?!

Posted by umes23 on Jan-17-2006 22:32:

i think having serious money to invest and important relationships with the authorities would be the key to break in as competition!

you can't organize a "big" enough event to book a world class super-dj without the money to back it up. you probably can't do ANY of it without the right relationships and legal expertise just in terms of all the regulation that takes place.

opening a badass club should already cover the grounds though

and to lisa and ryan who are deliberating over my age and my mid-life crisis, I hate to think it, but the truth is...not that I feel old...more like this clubbing thing has gotten BORING! say it with me now class...BOOOORRIINNGGGG

overpriced drinks, underaged girls, too much prespiration, the lifestyle has gotten old..

take me to ibiza or amsterdam or australia and we'll party it up proper...this local scene is nothing more than a money pit, and as you get older and take on other responsibilities, you notice how everything in life is a money pit (apartment, car, family) there ain't no room for PVD + $150@bar for drinks. And clearly I'm not eating a disco biscuit and devouring water trying to maintain my hydration. the lifestyle is old...give me luxury...give me mature woman who know what they want...the life...that's where i'm viking!

Is it possible that two different people can have the same identical thought, word by word???? Well, you just answered my question. If you was a woman, I'd marry you - ugly, fat, or what not.

LOL. right on dude, right on.

I'm sooooooooooooo plus fucking one, it's not even funnay.

Damn... your 18 year old kid and your hubby must have a really tight relationship - like in "Don't be a menace to society" LOL. "Ok, son - here are the rules: 'Don't be drinkin' my shit, don't be smoking my shit', and if you bring any of them ho's up in here - make sure I fuck 'em first!"

j/k - Good for you, you cradle robber you!

Family vacation to Ibiza, kids!. I say awesome

Posted by emc^2 on Jan-29-2006 18:42:

Yeah, family vacation in Ibiza with kids... just one problem - who will baby sit them when you're out in the club. Unless you are like Mommy420 - who can party with her 18 year old son and 22 year old hubby.

Posted by emc^2 on Jan-29-2006 18:47:

By the way, Mommy420 - no offense, but one of my friends used to go clubbing with her mom. Her mom was hawt - body that some 18 year olds would die for. However, those that knew what was up - found it waay creepy. Though she did manage to bag few of my lucky friends. She was definitely a MILF and then some. Those that did end up being lucky enough to get her in bed came out totally spoiled for other women. One guy totally went nuts for her, even called her house and MILF's husband picked up the phone. Well, the whole mess ensued thereafter, we all waited patiently for divorce details.

It later surfaced that her husband was getting his freak on by having his wife go out and fuck younger guys and then bring home the sloppy seconds. Very weird family.... anyway, moving on.

oh, yeah!

Hello! Family Vacation Ibiza

I always feel late when I read your posts. Sorry. I like the fact that everyone in my home gets along. I have taken my 18yr.old and my 12 year old to Ultra NYC and Summerstage last year. They loved it. We all had the time of our lives. Ibiza would be a dream come true, but with 4 kids, I could only take the 18 year old. And we would have to save forever for that. But if any of you know the least expensive route, dont be shy, tell me, we would love to go. Thanks.

plenty of families go to ibiza, they just don't stay in san antonio (only a few stay in ibiza town)

u can Def. do it. you just need to 1> plan EARLY 2> rent a car (buy map) and 3> get an apartment, not a hotel room 4> go in september (it's cheaper, better parties, weather's perfect, less tourists)

do a search on ibiza in NYTA and you'll see my thread/reviews and tips
