I swear I've never watched ANY show in my life as consecutively as this. I find American Idol more theatrical than Canadian Idol, though, like, people seem to depend more on the audience backing them up and their band and the staging effects more than in Canada, but it's still fun to watch.

I missed yesterday's show, I went out and got kinda drunk instead. But I'll catch it next week for sure.

I'm just watching this now (on Rogers timeshift), having been at the movies this evening ("Walk the Line"- awesome film!).

Anything good to report?

the girls at work made me watch this show tonite....some of these ppl are soooooooooo bad! i honestly think that the show pays these ppl to suck this bad so assholes like me can laugh at them....i know this sounds bad.

OMG, Rhonda Jones (pink cowboy hat, voice of helium). My gosh....!

Paris is amazing. definitely top 5 finalists.

ok, i'll admit.... i'm hooked.

The soldier (I forgot his name) who sang and danced with Paula was actually pretty good, but Paris is going to kick ass. She's only 17!

So far, i'd say the blonde girl (with the dad in jail, and the mom who's a slut, and lives with her grandpa on the farm) is my favourite, and has a good chance on making it because....

1.) she's hot.
2.) she can sing.
3.) she will clean up REAL nice.
4.) she's fuckin hot.

Go blondie.

p.s. - that Paris girl is good too, REALLY good. when she pulled out that Billie Holiday shit, i was floored. but she doesnt have that american idol look/appeal, so i dont think she stands a chance when it gets down to the wire.

That's what I was thinking, but they'll spend a fortune on her to make her look more mature and appealing if she wins.

I have one question.

How do these people not know that they suck.

I have a talent for entertaining. But I can't sing.

I would not enter Canadian, American or any of these "Idol" shows.

Even my hubby noted that the American show if full of the most disturbingly bad people.

I know I'd suck. How do these people know they don't suck?

I used to find myself horrified at his bluntness and their expressions. Now I love it. Desensitization at its finest

I don't mean to offend those of you who follow American Idol...but I hope it dies...I hate it! None of the winners have really had any success except for Kelly Clarkson...which I believe is well deserved b/c she's an amazing singer.

But it's just like Survivor...okay we get it...now the show can be cancelled. Thank you.

P.S. What ever happened to the deal with Reuben? Wasn't HE the winner of 2nd season? Not Clay?

lisa, he was the winner, but he didn't have near as much talent (in my opinion) as clay, who unfortunately used his new-found fame to destroy himself in the public eye.

I believe American Idol will keep going until people stop coming to audition. I don't think it'll have the popularity factor with participants as it had the first two years, cuz like, you never hear of those people anymore. but people will keep coming. good singers keep showing up. it's weird.

Wait...who destoryed his fame? Clay or Reuben?
I noticed that on the American Idol tours and such they used CLay however...not Reuben. It's one thing for CLay to use his fame to promote himself even as the runner up. But for the competition who named Reuben the winner to use Clay in their "American Idol Winners" umm...concerts, CDs...and such like that...dont' you think that's a little unfair? All Reuben got was a spot on a TV show trying to lose weight. If I were Reuben I would be filing some law suits b/c I'm sure he's not getting what he deserves from his contract, regardless if Clay is the better singer or not.

Ok - the brunette from last night (with the mom who's a vocal teach), is going to give blondie a run for her money. If they make it to the final, i say they just fuck the singing, and toss them in a giant tub of chocolate pudding and fight to the death. Oh man.

I completely see where you're coming from, but all the contract is for the Idol winner is the one record with the company. If Reuben hasn't pursued it since then, it's his laziness.

What I meant by Clay destroying himself was that - he put himself out there SO MUCH that he got immediately boring, and he was going all moral and stuff that he got annoying. What I meant by Clay being more talented than Reuben was mostly in his range - Clay could sing up and down the scale backwards, Reuben was REALLY good in his 9 or 10 notes.

It IS unfair that Reuben isn't getting the coverage that Clay received, particularly because he's the season 2 winner. What I believe is that Clay was the more popular among the geeks and those-of-less-confidence, so they use him as a marketing tool more than Reuben.
