Sounds like a good night had by most at TIL last night. I had a ladies night out planned with old friends that took us to the C LOUNGE so I couldn't make the Dish show. Was going to stop by afterwards but was far too drunk to venture anywhere. On a side note...C LOUNGE is the shittiest bar I have been to in YEARS. 10 bucks to get in...6 dollar watered down drinks...Crap...no worse than crap music (it was 104.5 night I think). They played 'flashdance', 'say hello' and ' eric prydz 'call on me' which made me laugh as I hate all 3 songs and would leave a EDM dancefloor if they were played but they were welcomed last night considering they were sandwiched in between R.Kelly and Beounce. shudder. Either way ...we were 20 really drunk women who caused shit on the dancefloor ...even if it was just to mock the crap that was being delivered by they DJ (and I use the term DJ very loosely as mixing was obviously not a prerequiste for the C LOUNGE gig)

See you at the GUV tonight. Will be supporting DEEP GROOVE front and centre.

That PARTY was the shit! The club was just jaw dropping!

More info later ... Chinese NY Dinner now.

What a fun time!!!!

After waiting longer than I had ever waited to get into a club before, and not being able to check my coat i was a little skeptical as to how the night would go...
but boy did things turn around quickly!!!!

Deep dish rocked, the club rocked, our group rocked, Kelly certainly rocked on her birthday.

I am very impressed with This is London...they need to work out their line issues, and coat check, but other than that, even the crowdedness was alright. It didn't get as hot as guv does, which made it totally bearable.

So many good tracks got played last night...
the highlight of which for me was Coldplay Speed of Sound-Steve Porter remix...
that is the afterparty theme song! I know you were loving it Graham!

I loved moving from down stairs to up in the balcony where we could chill and have some quality discussions. Margaret I have your chewing gum set on order.

Kelly Happy Birthday, Emma i will miss you when you're gone and everyone else can't wait to do it again!

Well, after all those TOTA worries of dress code and "21+" etc, they didn't bother really enforcing either! In fact they didn't even check my ID, nor spend time assessing my "trendiness."

...

hmmm...interesting.

someone messaged me last night saying they were barred entry because of their Addidas shoes. Dress codes (or worse, arbitrarily enforced ones) are fucking lame.

I need to confirm that they never did get in...if that's the case, I will *never* go there, on principle alone. Too bad, they seem to be bringing in some good talent.

since bullet point seems to be the way to go, here's mine:

-outside lineup was a mess, getting there late, you expect to wait, but when you're the first person in the g/l line and you don't move for an hour while they let in countless people who just walk up to the bouncer, and general admission get in 4-5 times before you, you get a little pissed.

-it was crowded. But at least it seems I missed the silly packed time of night, so for the majority of my time I at least had the ability to jump up and down without fear of being knocked around too wildly. The earlier leaving crowd was also nice, I was ready for a little room after the way the night started off.

-the crowd was a mix of good looking people. Probably a result of their door policy, but that hardly matters. The TAs were all vibing well and kept a smile on my face all night as usual. Happy b-day Kel, hope the dish served you well.

-The music was spectacular early going, and the short span before the dish were asked wrap it up.

-The sound was too loud on the dancefloor. I lasted a total of 60 second on the mainfloor because I could feel my eardrums vibrating inside my skull. On the outside of the dancefloor and upstairs the sound wasn't as finely tuned, the midrange in particular seemed to be drowned out badly at times.

-The dish only played till just after 6, slotted for an 8 hours set, they didn't even have the chance to get to the REALLY twisted early morning stuff i love them for.

Apart from all the negative aspects, for a club owned by charles, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. There's potential in this place, and with a little work I think it can make us forget about the loss of system.

WATTTTTTTT A NITE!!!! I dunno how i'm gonna make Gielen tonite but I'm def. gonna try! Question: Why the hell do the bouncers say that there's no guestlist line... when there actually is one... Are they juss freakin retarded or are they lying to F(*K around with us???? Watever, i stood in the main lineup which moved really quickly considering its size. At first I was pissd at having to pay 20 bucks to enter a sardine can but MAN IT WAS ALLLLLLL WORTH IT!!!! Here are my bullets:

- Initially PACKED AS HELL... no space to move but once all the mainstram crowd left after 3 it was a lil' better... spent most of my time next to the big (subwoofer?)or sitting on it... n who was that weird guy dancing up there? he comes to me, asks me for a lighter, then tells me to get off the speaker coz he "works there and is getting paid to dance!" 5 minutes later the bouncer kicks him off LOL!!!:P

- MUSIC WAS OFF THE CHAIN!!!! Can't remember havin this much fun at a prog house do!! Wasn't bored of the music for a single minute... all the way from 10:30 to 6:30!!!!

- CLUB WAS REALLY NICELY LAID OUT... but they can't pack it like this!

All in all one of my best nites... compares to the Sasha/Lawler nite at the Guv and Skybar! Enjoyed myself thoroughly.....

He went home (I think?) and changed shoes, and went back and they let him in.

I had lunch w/him today and he didn't seem too put off; he said he'll still be there for scumfrog.

Posted by Tully on Jan-28-2006 22:40:

lineup wasn't bad...the regular line that is....those guestlist and vip lines looked retarded....the regular line was HIGHLY organized

notes

Thanks to all that came out and had a great night.. some have said to have had the best time in a decade?!!!

To be honest, working on the night, I was suprised at how quickly people were getting in.. a little late opening the doors doing contruction and finishing touches the man him self to the last minute. Charles and the boys pulled magic...

Intimidating at first..Once the line got going.. I couldnt believe how fast people were getting in..

For a first night, with new staff , huge line up inside and out..lol.. I say congrats to all the staff for pulling it off - no dress rehersals ...

Melissa Happy Birthday Girl!

Thank you again for another.night.of.awesome.beats!

TIL - Deep Dish
For the opening night of a new club I was unsure what to expect.
Got there before 10 so was near the front of the guest list line and got in without much hassle.
Was surprised to be greeted by the Guv pat down girls once in the doors
Coat Check was really good, I was getting worried it maybe as bad as The Docks
Club layout was well done
Brad Copeland's opening set was good
Deep Dish put on a proper set, like the Cold Play tunes, plus many others
The Dance Floor resembled a mosh pit, almost as bad as Guv on Halloween, kind of put a damper on the night

Overall I really like the idea of Guv music in a bar scene. The one differnece is that at TIL the security staff were running a Boston marathon hurrying from point A to B soooo often. Glad I am not the part of the Staff.

I would like to go back again to see if the dance floor was just a once off.

Good night overall.

there were some aspects of the night which didn't run as smoothly as hoped.
There are still a few kinks to be worked out, but considering it was the opening night, and it was deep dish... id say it went incredibly well!
