Posted by LeopoldStotch on Feb-24-2006 01:16:

i asked BadBadNeil <== TA member , and he said maybe .. he says he hasn't followed baseball since wade boggs retired ..

Posted by Spartan on Feb-24-2006 03:20:

I heard Wade Boggs once drank over 35 beers on a three hour team flight.

Posted by denys envy on Feb-25-2006 19:30:

Posted by denys envy on Feb-26-2006 05:04:

the league is now full, if you would still like to join please PM me and explain why i needn't fear of you becoming a dead team.

Posted by King Ecnal on Feb-28-2006 19:29:

wow 12 teams... sounds good... now instead of boasting about beating 9 other teams, I can say I beat 11 other teams when I win the championship this YEAR!!!!!!

You should have named your team the Dave Chappelle's because you're hilarious. Nice try but you know you're booked for 4th.

yes i did.

[loud speaker on]

for the first pick in the draft .... Leopold Stotch chooses ....... Brian Lawrence of the Washington Nationals .....

[loud speaker off]

*crowd gasps*

wait .. he's done for the year ... ooooohhh snap .. there goes my season ...

Injuries aren't always an excuse though. In basketball, I had Jermaine O'Neal go out for 2+ months of the season and he was my 2nd round pick. Likewise, I had Larry Hughes go out for 3 months. He wasn't having an awesome year but he still was adding value. And I'm still in 2nd.

It's also about picking guys that aren't as injury prone... that should be a consideration.

Of course, it depends on each situation and there are injuries that are more deadly and greatly impact one's team more than mine.

true, but my risk on K Grif last year turned out pretty positive except he went down at the end of the year and I really had to scramble to replace him for the playoffs.

True buddy.... but you got him at a much lower draft position. So it was good value and less risk. I think you should balance the injury "risks" with some safe bets. ie: Hideki Matsui has never missed a game. Miguel Tejada doesn't either.

Don't get me wrong, there are some guys worth taking a chance with at the right spots.

knock knock.... just for this talk.

Let's not forget the Juice at the end of the year.

he probably found some new undetectable drug . . i wouldn't be surprised if he hits .250 with 10 home runs by june .

but ditto about last year. also, remember last year when everyone was anticipating when barry bonds was going to return, and i forgot who kept him on the bench forever ... i was the crazy one to try to trade for him, but trade talks faltered on the 23rd hour.

He was on a dead team, I remember that.

lol... I can't wait for the people who already drafted... like other leagues... and there guys get injured in the baseball classic... I'm sure this whole thing will piss fantasy owners off...

BUT, that's why I like the draft being so late in here, so we won't get fucked if WBC particpants who MIGHT get severly injured in it...

i like to always draft late, get more in scouting during spring training and yeah the whole WBC thing is wack, they should limit age like in Olympics... U-23s only or something.
