It seems like its just this one dude at the door that is shitty....why not just have the club deal with him?

Oh dude - i wasn't implying that you werent there for the music, i just feel it shouldn't be necessary for one to have to get a booth in order to be treated fairly.

I had a funny feeling about the entry process after the DD party and franky am not surprised about the reports from the Scumfrog/Cevin party. At DD I witnessed:

- (Too) many people giving payola to the bouncers to jump the queue.
- Guestlist line moving slower than regular line.
- Bouncers' seemingly arbitrary decisions about clothing.
- Lack of ID check.
- Lack of search.

Agreed 100%

forgot to mention that when we reserved our booth we were told that our cover would be comped, however when we arrived they told us that we would all need to pay a "reduced" price.... between Ally and JP they got it sorted out for me and my group was all let in for free......not sure why there was confusion, could be just these "front door" staff.....seems pretty fishy to me that all of these people who are told they are on a list by promoters, djs, management, etc....and then being told by the door staff that they aren't?????

hopefully all of these issues will be resolved....only two weeks into the new night and there is definately alot of potential with this place.....hopefully a few jackasses wont ruin it for everyone.

This is horrible.

I love the layout of this club. It has the potential to be one of the best places but alas, by the second week, it's already losing the battle and only based on staff.

You all remember when we first went to Boa on Spadina and everyone was saying such great things about the staff (it was true, it was the best staff in Toronto).

Unfortunately, it's not only the space that makes a club, it's who works there too.

I'm gonna miss those washrooms.

Its 100% up to the club what kind of dress code they want to enforce (if any) and I dont see why a "dress code" and "after hours" cant mix......

The problem here isn't the fact that there is a "dress code" it's that the door staff aren't consistant in what they are enforcing....

completely unfair the the customer.

It was my first time to "This is London". Scrumfrog totally kicked it - awesome and my first time seeing him....I liked the club layout forsure. Wished I could have partied longer...

true.

i go to afterhours cause of the music. i love dancing. if i cant wear my runners to a club i aint going. how the hell are u supposed to dance for 10+ hours in dress shoes.

Posted by breakawayj on Feb-06-2006 17:52:

haha i know man....

again, you dont have to wear "dress shoes" the club just needs to be consistant with what they are allowing...

I dont even think I own "dress shoes" if i do....i have NO IDEA where the EFF they are....

This cannot be emphasized enough. People spend money at clubs so that they can have an entertaining experience. Getting a staff member screaming in your face when you're trying to pay for the service you're about to receive is not entertaining. Having an experience like that before even entering the club is surely going to put a bad taste in someone's mouth which could quite possibly taint the experience of the whole night. When that person feels like going to a night club again, why are they going to choose the place that showed them such a total lack of respect?

If TiL's owners want to make money, they have to make sure their security staff, and especially their door staff don't have the attitude that we are "priveleged" to be in their club. There are many other clubs to choose from, and we will gladly spend our money elsewhere if we are shown this kind of attitude.

Get your act together TiL.

i think it can..... they just need to be clear, and more consistant with what is appropriate and what is not. also, when someone arrives in clothing not suitable, a polite explaination would be appreciated.

Every "frontline" staff member should get this stappled to their forehead.

not necessarily. we had booth and bottle service for deep dish...and i swear i waited like at least 10 mins for the waitress to get me a pepsi to mix with my jack...and the bar was connected to our booth...the waitresses tha tnight weren't doing their jobs very well....also, me and my group were guarenteed entry into the club without waiting in line and because of the number of us that were there this did not come cheap...they lied...we waited, and we still had to pay extra....

it seems as if some consistency is all TiL needs...and a solid effin staff meeting...i like what the club is trying to do by adding a little class and style to edm scene...but a different vibe comes with the scene and the staff needs to realize this and take part in it...it's what makes clubs and parties legendary.

Way to go TIL...you have already started to piss off the people who will make your friday nights work.....and it only took two weekends.

Posted by nadezhda on Feb-06-2006 23:11:

wow, TiL staff sound like total and utter crap.

already i have to boycott another of charles' establishments (guv main room), now i'm wondering if TiL is gonna have to be added to the list?

if any doorman tries to tell me i don't look good enough to get in, my inner bitch (or not so inner, some might argue ) will have to be unleashed.

Thank you, Natalie! Those people behind us were my friends, whom I ran into in the line. It was one of their birthdays, they all were delighted to receive reduced cover and wanted me to thank you for this on their behalf.

No problem. I mean, u were on a guest list that did nothing for you. Thats a joke! Besides, that "+ 7" woulda meant free entry at any other club except TiL. FFS it was the DJ's guest list....

Ok, so how about more reviews, aside from complaints?

Sorry Nat - yet another complaint - from TRIBE

Sooo, what might have been an acceptable dress code one Friday is not the next...lengthy waits in line while the club is empty...people on guest list not getting a break on their cover charge....names missing off guest lists...bouncers screaming in your face at the door...people paying extra for bottle and booth service being ignored....smoking allowed in the club...

nice start This Is London. and some people wondered why there was so much apprehension about EDM being played at a snobfest for a club.

WOW - you guys sure weren't giving me the support when I mentioned that I was not let in for Deep Dish last week until I changed my shoes...

I went for Scumfrog and that's the only reason I went. I had GL from Nat for 3 and actually managed to get 2 free passes. The bouncers looked me and my two friends up and down - recognized me from last week (this time I wore blue adidas trainers instead of white) and I got a sort of acceptance - but he looks at my two friends - makes one unzip his coat and mutters "i know we have relaxed the dresscode but man this is going too fucking far"... but I guess since we were on Scumfrogs GL we went in ...

Scumfrog was great as usual, Cevin and Matt were very good too. I just stayed near the back all night and enjoyed the space.

Thanks Nat for the GL and the passes for Ultraspin... hope you enjoyed your presents...

I knew TIL would be like this with the "style" code - I was the first person to mention it in the event thread...that club and the bouncers there have always been pricks.

There will be very few DJ's that I will deal with their shit to go to TIL.
