If football would be so easy then you wouldnt need managers on the side line ?!

Uhm...in soccer you have the head coach and a assistant coach.

Now take american football...you have a head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, quarterback coach, wide receiver coach, running back coach, special teams coach...the list is endless...

And why do they have so many different coaches? Because one person alone couldn't handle a team of 50 players where each person has his own job...

Well, I remember reading somewhere some time ago that many of the best kickers were former soccer players.

yeah and back in the 60's some Austrian player came to America played american football and became a super bowl champion without knowing the rules of NFL

man this is like watching two rams just going head to head.
im a soccer (football) fan and player (im european in origin so dont throw that "youre american" stupid arguement at me). and i have to side with the american football side in this thread because you guys are totally closed minded people who have absolutely no idea about football and i used to think the same way before i decided to learn the game, and let me tell you something about tactics. american football blows any other sport out of this planet when it comes to tactics, for fuck sakes each team has its own playBOOK of tactics! if you dont understand whats going on behind the play and why teams run the ball constantly or take timeouts and so on yes the game can be confusing and boring. but if you understand all the work that is done behind the plays and you understand the mindset youd know how tense and captivating this game can be.

Sorry but football is just plain boring

And i love it when American football fans say ,"watching soccer is like watching paint dry."

Then i could say ," watching football is like watching turtles run for 500 meters."

It's obvious you don't know shit about American football so why don't you just shut the fuck up.

If you knew anything about American football, you'd realize there are a lot more formations and set plays in AF compared with your football. I've played both and actually enjoy soccer more, but you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Each sport requires different personality characteristics and body types, which is one reason I'm more suited for soccer. Soccer is more endurance, football is more strength and power.

uhm yes but the SIMPLE american football strategy guide was longer? so what you wanna tell me?

and in american football you have 22 players in offense and defense who all have different positions and different jobs. most players on the field will never touch the ball because their jobs are something differen.

maybe you should start to discuss my arguments instead of telling me soccer is so great and american football is bad

Was he a placekicker, because that's the most mindless position on a football team? The only instruction is to kick the ball between the two uprights.

Pussy sport my ass. Say that to all the guys whose seasons were ended this year because of MCL/PCL tears. Or to the guys whose careers were ended because of concussions. Or to the guys whose careers were ended because of spinal injuries. Or to the guy from the Jets who was paralyzed below the waist because of a spinal injury. Just because they wear pads doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like shit. Would you say hockey players are pussies?

Former kicker Fritsch dead at 60

NFL.com wire reports

VIENNA, Austria (Sept. 13, 2005) -- Toni Fritsch, who went from Austrian soccer player to place-kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, died at 60.

Peter Klingelmueller, a spokesman for Rapid Vienna, the soccer club on which Fritsch played for 14 years, confirmed Fritsch's death. The Austria Press Agency reported that Fritsch collapsed and died of heart failure in Vienna after eating at a restaurant.

Fritsch played in nine matches for the Austrian national soccer team and, in 1965, scored two goals for Austria as it defeated England 3-2 in London. Six years later, soccer-style kickers were becoming popular in the NFL and the Cowboys sent scouts to Europe in search of strong-legged soccer players who could be taught to boot footballs.

"The first place we went was Vienna, and the first player we tried out was Toni Fritsch," then-Cowboys personnel director Gil Brandt recalled in Dallas. "He had a hard time speaking English at first, but he did master it."

Brandt recalled that Fritsch kicked the winning field goal in his NFL debut. It was a 26-yarder with 1:53 left that gave Dallas a 16-13 victory against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Now this is an excellent text!!!

You really get the point here!!!

Soccer and american football are both fun, but american football is definetly the more complicated game, that's something no one who seriously looks at both sports can deni

c'mon hardstyle, don't be a jerk.

American Football is extremely complex.
My favorite coach is a hall of fame coach who won three super bowls. He took ten years off, came back to the game, and said that it was completely different as the playbook is constantly being rewritten, and in his first year back, was terrible.

And for the other guy who thinks American Football is a lame sport b/c of the breaks and the pads - I would suggest watching an American football game in person if you ever get the chance, so you can get a feel for how extremely fast and hard hitting the game really is.

Then you can voice whatever opinions you want.

Posted by Rockabye on Feb-06-2006 04:04:

The kicker and punter have the most simple position on a football team.

They don't play much and their only job is to kick the ball on the kick-off, a punt, a field-goal attempt or an extra-point.

I mean ANYONE who has a strong and accurate leg can be a kicker in american football. You don't have to be intelligent or good in shape...

In chess you only have 2 players against each other. In American Football you have 22 players on each side that have to be coordinated which makes it so interesting.

Hardstyle, your arguments getting worser and worser.

You see that even soccer players tell you that american football is much more interesting and complicated than soccer, so why can't you accept it???

Chess wasn't a sport the last time that I checked. It is the greatest board game, though.

It has more action than soccer because it's not just 22 players running after the ball.

I'm going to bed now, it's 5 am over here and was a long night.
