I was just pissed off that a lot of people didn't show up for this great event. |

| Originally posted by DJ Eco nightlife and club life is so widespread in (most of) Europe, whether youre from the big cities or the small towns, theres always clubs that every person 16-30 goes to, its such a big part of the culture there... compare that to the average non-metropolitan-area who, if asked what "techno" music they know, would mockingly sing "sandstorm" and throw out a mocking display of nonexistent rave skills and then mention something about drugs or drug music.... thats the average American's response to electronic music.... even in the cities, theres so much rock everywhere, even they have a disdain and ignorance toward us, because our "music is made with computers" and thus isnt real music.... our country as a whole is very very very close-minded to electronic music.... look at the Olympic ceremomonies in Athens two years ago with Tiesto, and also look at the Olympic ceremony two nights ago in Torino with a majority of the music having been produced by Sven Vath.... nuff said. |

Eco i don't think the venue was the problem!!!!!ask some of the people that were there and they'll tell you that it wasn't that bad!!!!!I gotta let the people who organized the event explain what happened. They put a lot into it but they got screwed. I'll let them give you the details!!All i can say is that because picotto cancelled at crobar they saw it as an opportunity for more people to come to the party, but didn't happen cause everybody went to Love.

| Originally posted by DJ Eco well, i didnt really see any flyers or posters or anything outside of Trance Addict.... maybe its not the venue per se, but places like Crobar or Spirit or Avalon can afford to send people out handing flyers or posting up throughout the city, or advertising on Clubplanet, or sending out newsletters, thats all im sayin dont forget, clubs like these also work in collaboration with guestlists and large scale promotions... |
dammm that is pretty bad...
a lot of the time, i know it sounds dumb, but Myspace and email newsletters really really really pull heads to the clubs....
if i didnt belong to TA, i wouldnt have known at all... well, lets hope theres a next time, Jon's a great guy and a great DJ!

I'm sick and tired with new york being all about that gay ass house shit.
ha I totally agree

How about you like listening to what you like and leave it at that? So lame. Also, on the front of music appreciation - I will agree that the culture in many European countries is much more open to dance music in comparison to North America... Over here most people have no idea what 'Dance' music is - and all EDM is 'Techno'. |
I would like to thank all the TA's that came through to support Jon & the Obey The Night Crew! Jon, Dave and I really do appreciate it!I just want to point out that it is sad to say that the trance scene in NYC is not as supportive of the great DJ's like Jon O'Bir. He played an awesome set and a lot of people missed out! WHAT'S GOING ON IN NYC! I remember people saying how he ripped it 2 years ago @ Ikon when PVD was doing NYE. Me and Dave tried to put this event together because we recognized Jon's talents and wanted to share that with NYC. When he was @ 114 in Philly, people came out and represented. When he was in LA the week before at Heaven, people came out and packed the place. Obey The Night wants to keep bringing GREAT talents like O'Bir to NYC so that people have something different to see, but we need the peoples' support. I'm not trying to talk down to anyone, nor dis anyone. I just want this city to unify and represent the music we all Love because it is hard in this city to throw a party when City gov't try to shut down small parties, classifies raves solely as a place to distribute drugs like if they where crack houses. That's not what we're about! But again the people have to come out and support so that the next show can be better. With out you there is no show!
There is one thing I would definitely point out, I always get alot of people who like house music dis trance. I really don't understand why! Music is music. The same way there are different races of people on this planet, there are different styles of music! I do see alot of websites & magazines dissing trance. It's just not fair! But that is why we need to support Trance DJ's, Artists, and organizations that promote it! We need to improve the state of the scene in order for it to survive!!!!!
