Honestly, what does it matter how expensive it is? The money's already taxed from you, it's not like the gov't is gonna go, "oh well we decided against this expensive project, here is your $1000 back, enjoy."

no actually it hasnt been taxed from you. In fact, its directly because of the "financial crisis" that taxes are going UP and TTC fares are going UP. So yes my friend, decisions like this DO cost you money DIRECTLY.

Something tells me the government would just find another reason to raise the taxes.

I would *love* to see that...widen the sidewalks and still have streetcar, municipal and emergency vehicles be the only traffic allowed. Transit access should keep businesses happy, though I suspect 95% of their business is walk-up and not people parking a car out front anyway.

we already have multi-lane one-way routes closeby (Richmond and Adelaide) that are arguably underused during non-peak hours, with King. St. having regular traffic flow too. There's no need to have the gridlock we have 24/7 on Queen St with regular traffic, the TTC and people trying to cross the street.

a near pedestrian-only Queen St. would be an *amazing* revitilization project for the area!

in other transit news....mississauga bus fare rises from $2.25 to $2.50...fucking awesome

I'm all for keeping and expanding streetcar service on most major transit corridors. Look at the wonders it did on Spadina one of the most vibrant sreets in Toronto. I don't think St. Clair is the right street for a right of way. Maybe bring back service of the Bathurst streetcar north of Bloor Street to St. Clair West Station??? Yeah right like that'll ever happen.

Or hears another idea but some new streetcars!!! Fuck they're practically ancient lol

considering the type of buses the ttc has, the streetcars are still new in comparison.

now if they only got some of these kind of streetcars

they kinda look like VIVA type vehicles with the blue paint
