crack sells more than sammy but at least it gets you high.
The fact that you are a fan of Sammy's work tells me you are either
1.a 12 year old girl
2.Are tone deaf
3.have no range or depth of knowledge in edm music.
4.all of the above
i forgive you for liking sammy
you will be a fully blosomed woman soon and hopefully outgrow it.

| Originally posted by IntegraR0064 PVD....it depends on the individual production, but as a general trend, his music is much more musically deep than anything dj sammy has even thought about, let alone produced. Lately, he's been kind of hit or miss, but that's a different issue. Even then, at least his music is original. |
Sven > PVD in pioneering trance even though he doesnt get the same credit.

There's no real difference.
Especially not with the recent PvD tracks.

Where in the world is this dj sammy so popular? I only remember that track Heaven because it was shortly in the hit lists over here, but since then I only see his name here on tranceaddict (of all places).
Anyway this thread is pointless, there is nothing to discuss. Paul Van Dyk makes music (and he earns money because he's good in it, he helps his genre to evolve) and for as far as I know dj Sammy, he's a guy who makes money (and he makes music to achieve this, and he doesn't bother about creating something new if he can make more money with a dance remake of older songs).
Do you think Jessica Simpson is better than both of them????? Because she's sold 10x as many records as PvD and Sammy! Selling records does NOT equal skills or quality production! DJ Sammy's music is utter garbage but PvD is a classic genious!

what a comparison
I'll give some kudos to Sammy as a DJ, and I must clarify that only as a DJ. PvD as someone mentioned before is in another league.
@ this topic...
you do realize dj sammy has remixed 80s songs....Bryan Adams' Heaven, Don Henley' s - Summer
these tracks like qualify under a compeltely different subgenre compared to PVD's productions....popesque shite
over all id say dj sammy is more into melodic production, where as pvd is "get up and go" dance tunes.
Well their basslines are very similar...

Im still going to stick to my argument and say that; yes i loved "nothing but you", pure genius in terms of trance. And PVD is a trance pioneer and played a big part in bringing trance closer to mainstream, But as far as PVD goes thats about it. I made a thread in the past called "reflecting on reflections", in which i was talking about how crap the album was. In terms of quality of production dj sammy wins hands down, in terms of sales dj sammy wins hands down and in terms of hits dj sammy wins hands down. I know i may be the only one who thinks this but hey who cares. In fact im going to see PVD play at metro in a few weeks so it'll be interesting to see how it goes! |

| Originally posted by IntegraR0064 PVD lately is...not like he used to be, so this is a hard argument to have. You kind of have to ask what time period we're talking about. Lately, most of what PVD comes out with is shit, i'll be honest. But, regardless, it sounds like you just like pop music, and not trance. There's nothing wrong with you liking pop more, you're like 95% of the population. You're just on a forum with a bunch of people who really like electronic music, and not pop. |
