PS: Cosmic, your previous comments were not taken as a dis (IMO) to anyone, rather it was more of an "I am the best, look at me" statement

Oh gosh no. I'd never brag about something like that. Actually, I'm a pretty crappy programmer as it is, lol.

One more thing:

In the summer, 90% of you are going to be working either full time or part time anyway, to support your partying habits, so there goes the "do nothing during the summer" argument. Furthermore, I remember I had a summer a few years ago where I was literally doing nothing, and I can tell you, at about 2pm on any given weekday, I was so bored I wanted to kill myself.

Actually, I had a pretty good reading week. I did absolutely no reading at all. I should have though. So I'm pretty much fucked for this and the upcoming weeks. Yay for procrastination.

So true!

I love working full-time in the summer. Mad cashflow, and just enough free time to enjoy that cash flow to the fullest

Here's my beef with working ....
I wake up at 7:30.
Get Ready
Work 8.5 hours (no included lunch)
Gym if I can convince my lazy ass to cooperate.
Home have dinner / clean up after dinner.

Its 8:30 PM !!! WTF happened here?!

Now I have 3 hours give or take to myself before exhaustion takes over. I dunno 'bout you cosmic but I can't function on lack of sleep, and we're in the same line of work.

it's called life.

you can afford what you want, drive what you want to drive, eat when and where you want to eat, wear the clothes you want to wear, vaca where you choose, and build a retirement fund to do the same shit when you're not working.

Hmmm ... I see your point. Here's some additional info:

I cant spend my f'in money like I want

I'm still in school and over 60% of the money I earn goes to my tuition for the upcoming term.

The rest goes to my rent, food, bills, etc. And when I do spend money on myself/gf/friends I feel bad about it.

And yet, that's still life.

so the moral of this thread is:

life sucks!

i never said that was the only definition of life, but it's part of the transgression. if you don't like what you're doing, at least like it for what you're preparing and assure you're taking the necessary steps to reach your desired level of satisfaction.

remember, if all of your goals have been achieved, you didn't set them high enough.

and don't forget to try and have a bit of fun in the meantime

quote:

"We wake up in the same bed each morning, eat the same breakfast, and drive to work down the same road. We see the same dull faces in the office and shuffle papers on our old desks. We drive home, watch the same dumb shows on TV, have a beer, and go to sleep in the same bed. We repeat this routine day after day, month after month, year after year. It feels like a life sentence without parole. What is there to look forward to? Perhaps a brief vacation next year? We'll buy a package deal, fly to Paris, get on a bus with the rest of the group, and spend 15 minutes in front of the Triumphal Arch and half an hour going up the Eiffel Tower. Then back home, back to the old routine.

Most people live in a deep invisible groove --no need to think make decisions, feel the raw edge of life. The routine does feel comfortable -- but deathly boring." - Dr. Alexander Elder

What's the best reason to calling to work sick while waiting inline for ZONE? ( besides i'm a junkie )

^^^ Yes excuses people!!

I need like a rolodex of excuses to cycle though.

The one I use about once a month: I slept with my contacts in and I have an eye infection.

You don't want to be too elaborate in an excuse. Quick, painless and straight up.

I work 12hr nights, either 3 or 4 times a week and I actually enjoy it... and no it's not at a factory, support damn nurses and doctors at a hospital and do some network admin stuff. I know most of you must think "nights? that's just crazy!". WRONG, it's the greatest, I only work a few days a week and still get my regular hours. I can plan my week a whole lot better and I get more days off

I'm starting day shifts on Monday 8-4:30pm. Oh man, I am not looking forward to a shitty mon-friday schedule. I seriously don't know how people can work mon-fri constantly... putting up with the TTC and it's busy ass routes, being a regular like everyone else. Coming home and only having a few hours to yourself before you have to do it all over again, horrible!

It's gonna be 3 shitty ass weeks!
