hehe I thought I already reviewed here eheh
not that there's much to say lol.. just an awesome track! lots of energy!! good job winning the yahel remix contest btw lol
how come I never heard that track?

Posted by Nemesis44 on Mar-10-2006 14:34:

This is a beautiful track. It's just one of those tracks where you look at your own and contemplate giving up... because you wish that you could write like this.

Well done guys.

Don't worry, just because it didn't get signed yet doesn't mean that it's not a good track. And besides, I have found a lot of labels wouldn't know a good tune if it jumped up and bit them in the arse.

Cheers
Nem

Thanks guys for all the wonderful comments.

MrMarcellos : yes u can use the track, we are looking forward to hearing it in a set of yours soon

Nemesis : I really enjoyed your track a lot as well so we are not the only ones who are writing good stuff

Push2005: only an 8,5? Nah seriously that is the kind of mark we were aiming for And Pillow one, yeah the old school feeling is something Rick and I enjoy creating together.

Thanks everyone!

I think I already reviewed an earlier version of the track.
Nice 303.
I like the pad melody.
I really like the plucked melody.
The clap is too weak.
The break comes wow nice melody. Imo there should be a bell in there, some kind of bell melody, just in the break.
Cool main melody.
Cool breakbeat.
I think you should have a bit more variation.
Maybe change the melody a bit at the end of the main part.
Amazing atmosphere.

9/10

Amazing track. Very nice melody, great atmosphere,.. this track has everything a good uplifting track needs. Imo it's better than a lot of stuff that gets released these days. I can't get it out of my head, fantastic job!

Fantastic track!

The strings sound great and it's perfect to dream away.
There's a great drive in it!

I really like this kind of music!

Score: 9/10

Listened to the track several times now, but i'll have to listen to it on my main monitors tomorrow (headphones now...) before commenting - since the Beat seemed more than adequate on my headset, and everybody says it has to be louder...

Posted by KAKAAKlol on Mar-10-2006 23:12:

One of the best since "Marninx - Embrace"

Amazing job!

10/10

Groundzero please let us know indeed if you feel the beat is adequate.

I am interested in the MIDI for remixing it?

Listening again, The beat does seems quite "shallow" at first (i don't mean the very beginning - it's supposed to be like that there), but what does strike me is that it never weakens troughout the track.
Most tracks suffer from this in the busy parts - when playing solo the beat is kick-arse, but when the full load is on you hardly hear it snap in the background - this is NOT the case here.

The acid (bass)line - is a bit overused & stays at its cutoff/resonance freq troughout the track up to about 8:00min (could use some variation) - and overpowers the bassline beneath (playing solo only around 8:20)

About the mastering, wavelab global analysis confirms what i felt, the dynamic range in the track is lacking - i mean the whole track is loud troughout.
This reduces the impact & feeling of loudness during the climax (average loudness is -12.3db , dyn.range: -7.32db max to -63.15db min - normally you should have around -80db min dyn. range ...) As a result the whole track feels a bit too compressed imo.

There are other ways than compression to increase the overal loudness of the track an keep the dynamic range ...
(e.g.: Static Blue - Activa - Broken Morning :-5.13db max , - 78db min, -11.6db average)

This doesn't mean i don't like the track - quite the opposite actually.
The melody is great ! and the strings( / bagpipe?) during the break is marvellous. This is quite a piece of workmanship you guys got there, oozing with inspiration. Get signed already !

J.

hey guys,

lovely tune..

.. and a great choice of sounds: the acid line that emerges in the intro and goes through the entire track. those strings which give somewhat a symphonic feel to it.

i realy like it.
