I never claimed trance was dead, it was merely a question. You need to look at things from my point of view

I havent listened to radio for years, I can't find good trance CD's in stores, and I have no clue on what's new. Simply cause I was a teenager back in the days having little money and little knowledge on this music, all I knew is that I love it.

From what I gathered in my personal experience, Radio 538 stopped playing the trance I like around 2003, which was then replaced for Dance which in my opinion is horribly repeditive and dullsounding.
3 FM is mostly mainstreamness and I havent even heard about those other stations.

To answer yer question, I live in Assen as said next to the thingy with my country name in it. Its a small city up North, the "capitol" of my Province.

There ya go

Thanks much!

radio 538 = mainstream shit, nothing wrong with it, but not the place to listen to trance. You just need to find the right medium to listen to trance I think, start listening to livesets, if you don't know where to download it you can pm me or something. And go to the local TA forum as someone mentioned, so you can see what kind of parties there are. There are lots of meetings with other dutch ta's, in case you can't find any friends to come with you..

Yup, thats why I stopped listening to 538 as well.

I found alot of livesets here which are indeed great quality (most of em anyway)

I'll have to check out the local forums yes I do know my country has quite some trance events and such

In your statement is one of the reasons Trance died. Too much being produced...seems every bedroom DJ has a track released every day....whatever happened to quality over quanity?

Hmmm... kind of ironic to talk about trance being dead on a trance website that has thousands of people visit it daily

Thats why I was so surprised, thats why I am here, because obviously it isnt dead.

Posted by LiGHT78 on Mar-06-2006 17:51:

Yeah...From what I've seen most of TA talks about house mostly and hates trance though.

Posted by Zombie0915 on Mar-06-2006 18:22:

I used to get all my livesets from the TA livesets section, but there havent been new ones up in ages. How do you get them now?

I think the best way to do it would be in podcast form, just fire up a program and leech them all automatically, I cant stand digging through those shady porn popup filled download sites, whoring for invites to those torrent communities, waiting hours and hours for things to come through the direct connect hubs, it has gotten so much harder to just go and get some sets to hear. I guess I just dont have the motivation to go through all that to get files anymore.

Theres a fair amount of live sets to be found on share programs I guess. I always end up wanting singles anyway though.

You mean bedroom producer right?

The problem is that there are far too many copycats... and not enough innovation... If you listened to Trance b/w 1991 till about 1995... The tracks were diverse... Heaps of different and unique sounds were used... Not everyone used the same structure when writing their music.

Today Trance seems to sound all the same

I was introduced to the wonderfulness that is trance around 1999. I bought my first CD in 2000 and have recorded tracks from the radio on ye ol' casettes till 2002/03.

Now I live in a small and musically retarded country and I figured trance pretty much died around 2003 ...

FYI trance died somewhere around 1995 and Roberto Concina bears a lot of responsibility.

I agree with the today. I think trance was much better in July than it is today. Today. It's all cookie-cutter progressive trance now. .

True.

We discussed this topic so many times, but before we can really answer it we need to define 'dead'. What is dead?
a)it's not played on mainstream radiostations
b)the quality of the productions has declined
c)the demand in clubs is small
d)trance dj's are lower ranged in the dj mag top 100 than i.e. house dj's
e)there are fewer "trance-fans" who regularly listen to trance

etc etc?

Well I already have most of their stuff. And thats still just 3

Well then check out young, upcoming producers:

Phynn
Menno De Jong
Paul Moelands / Octagen / Re:Locate
Thomas Bronzwaer / Arizona
C-Quence
Ronald Van Gelderen
Mark Norman
...

And these ones are only just from holland.

If you think trance isn't great in holland, think again I guess

And there are tons of dutchies who can tell you in your face they like trance.

I never undrestand why people say that trance is dead, what does that mean?! how can a music genre DIE???

your from holand and your asking the most stupid quastion you could ever ask. There are shit lodsa trance events kicking off in holand as we speak and yet your asking if trance is dead? o come on ffs...

I could name more than 100+ great tunes just from 2005 which are just as good as 1999 or whatver IF not better!

From the sound of it, your just a lazy **** who can't be arsed to do abit of research on the music you LOVE.

Posted by Axolotyl on Mar-07-2006 02:17:

Trance isnt dead. Its just been in a really bad accident, broke its back and will likely never walk again. Doesnt mean its dead... its just not going anywhere in a hurry.

Trance ain't dead.... its just taking a break..

Ah its people like you who make me wanna be on forums.

Have you bothered reading all my posts? It isnt about trance being dead, its simply a titel for the tread and i mentioned it in my intro.
It makes writing more interesting.

Then I mentioned the main problem, and asked a solution.

Its simple, I told you I havent listened to radio in years, because I was under the impression that the genre had somewhat faded away.
So naturally I would stop doing research.

Why the heck do you think I'm here now? This IS my research.

I can name you 100 better tracks too, but thats not the point is it?
We all like different tracks, you could name me 500 for all I care, theres still a chance I won't like all of em.

What this tread was about, is recommendations, which you would have know if you had read better and picked out the important part of the post.

So before we start the name calling, try and be more understanding and read please.
I just got here, and so far yer not helping in making me feel welcome, like so many forums, show some understanding man.
