My predictions:

Arsenal FC vs. FC Juventus

I'm rooting for Juventus ofcourse, and I'm well aware of what happened at Delle Alpi earlier this week. We deserved to win that game and we did after all the chances we had, still Juventus won the game after a fatal misstake by Wiese. I know Arsenal is a strong team and they're pretty much underrated these days because they're not playing any good in the league, but I have to say that we have to look out with them because we didn't manage Liverpool very good last year and they knocked us out. Juventus is going through if they're not allowing anything away, playing well at home and ofcourse not allowing easy goals like last time in Germany. It's going to be two interesting legs between these teams.

Olympique Lyonnais vs. AC Milan

Lyon is playing stunning and has done that all season long, they're not those "runners-up" anymore, this would be the team I would root for if Juventus was knocked out. Anyways, We all know the capacity of Milan and that they're good at times. Key moment of the two legs is probably going to be how many goals each team will allow away. It's important to win at home, and with at least 2 goals (2-0 for an example). I hope Lyon gets through and knocks out Milan for once.

Ajax/Inter vs. Villareal CF

Can't say anything about this atm.

SL Benfica vs. FC Barcelona

Benfica knocked out Liverpool in the latest round, and ever since then, We haven't seen any of those Liverpool fans (See you next year like Fast says). Barcelona is huge favourites, having the second leg at home helps them out even more. Benfica is a pretty strong team when it comes to defending a lead, which they did so brilliantly against Liverpool last time at Anfield (0-2 win). Barcelona is probably going to have the easiest way to the semifinals, but still, Understatement fucks up for everyone who's involved. If you start to understate Benfica, you're going to fuck up, I'm pretty sure. I still think Benfica's got a chance if they can win at home without allowing any goals or at least one goal, but then again, they have to win at home and allow very few goals away, then they also have to score a Nou Camp..

1 Arsenal FC (ENG) v Juventus (ITA)
-If Arse plays like they did against Real, no problem for them. But if they go back to the form they were earlier this season and collapse defensively as they have done before, Juve wins.
Predicting Henry trying to take over the game, only to run into a wall called Viera.
Juve wins

2 Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) v AC Milan (ITA)
-Probably the most interesting and potentially most exciting matchup.
I really, really want Lyon to win because I think they do deserve it. But no Juninho (suspended for first leg) means they will be hard pressed to come up ahead after first leg at Stade Gerland and Milan usually eats up opponents at Meazza. Again, one slip up from Lyon and Milan wins.
Milan wins

3 FC Internazionale Milano (ITA) v Villarreal CF (ESP)
-Villarreal struggled against Rangers and always inconsistent, esp. Riquelme and Forlan. Inter is the weakest of 3 Italian teams, but they have definitely more quality than Villareal.
Inter wins.

4 SL Benfica (POR) v FC Barcelona (ESP)
-On paper, looks like Barca will thrash Benfica, but Benfica did have some huge results against big English teams. Then again, they are facing Barca not some English team so Barca without Puyol for first leg should win easily. Benfica don't have much to stop Ronaldinho from shredding their defence
Barca wins

1st leg: 28/29 March
2nd leg: 04/05 April

1 Arsenal FC (ENG) v Juventus (ITA)
2 Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) v AC Milan (ITA)
3 FC Internazionale Milano (ITA)/AFC Ajax (NED) v Villarreal CF (ESP)
4 SL Benfica (POR) v FC Barcelona (ESP)

1. Arsenal v Juventus
Its gonna be an interesting match but I can bet Juventus will find a wayy to go through, even if it is bu luck as they did with Werder Bremen.

2. Lyon v Milan
This is going to be one hell of a match.... I really want Lyon to go trhough, but then again, Milan is such a solid team Its really hard to predict the outcome.

3. Inter v Villareal
Inter goes through

4. Benfica v Barca
Hate to admit this, but I will be pretty surprised if Benfica go through. I think Barca has the easiest path to the semis... althoug I dont hink it will be SOOO easy as most people expect

Barcelona has got big problems before the first leg, Marquez, Puyol and Edmilson will most likely not be participating in the game.

Arsenal have tied up a deal to sign the world's tallest footballer, 6ft 10 Nikola Zigic, from Red Star Belgrade. In his first two seasons at Red Star, he scored 55 goals in 77 games. (Star).

So, It looks like Arsenal is getting a quality attacker. He can provide alot if he gets to play, he's a gigantic player, a great player with the head, he works hard and can also shoot from distance.

I hope he gets the chance to play for Arsenal, He deserves it for sure.

Its always good to watch Aresenal play football, and when they are in the mood they can outplay any team. Lets see how it goes ...

eum, yes this season too, maybe alot of bad performances too but they outplayed Real for example this season

Posted by zoric on Mar-23-2006 17:57:

Arsenal hasn't really impressed in the EPL this season and they're not going to win anything there.

I still think they're playing a lot clever and better in the Champions League this season than the seasons before. This is why:

It's pretty clear that they haven't played any good in the Premier League this season. They didn't get any good start so they decided to play smart in the Champions League. I think they've learned how to play in the European football, they don't have to impress everyone everytime they step up, but they have to take points and plan this properly.

Also, Thierry Henry has developed to much this season for Arsenal in CL, even Dennis Bergkamp is playing well when he gets the chance sometimes.

They've got a much stronger defence, a strong midfield with the talented Fabregas as one of the leaders, and ofcourse amazing players like Thierry Henry never fails.

The EPL may be a dissapointment, but they're still haning in there and they're now facing Juventus in two legs.

1 Arsenal FC (ENG) v Juventus (ITA)
Thierry Henry saves the season once again by knocking out one of the best teams in Europe, upsetting a few bookmarkers.

2 Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) v AC Milan (ITA)
Argh, this should be the final. And it should be the year Lyon would finally go all the way, but Milan is going to go through. Undeservedly after Lyon dominates both matches.

3 FC Internazionale Milano (ITA) v Villarreal CF (ESP)
1-1 1st leg. 1-1 2nd leg. penalties. Inter goes through.

4 SL Benfica (POR) v FC Barcelona (ESP)
Disregard the injuries, they'd win it even with the B-team. Do I really need to say who is the favourite here?

Posted by zoric on Mar-23-2006 18:27:

I certainly hope Lyon can win if they're better than Milan, not a new Milan-scenario where they win after luck.
