Well I liked a lot of clubby stuff, including ATB - 9pm towards the end of the 90s. The first track that really hooked me in a "this stuff is better than anything else around right now" way was Zombie Nation.

I first tried listening to Trance in 94, but was first exposed to some rather amateurish productions from some of the Psychedelic producers.

A bit later I heard Legend B. "Lost In Love" when it came out, and "Are You Out There" by Crescendo". I also finally discovered Jam & Spoon's "The Age of Love" on one of my old 1992 Dance compilations.
The record that really won me over? Probably CM "Dream Universe".

lol... I cant believe i am aboaut to admit this, but the first electronic music i listened to was... sigh... Zombie Nation - kernkraft, darude sandstorm, js16 stomp to my beat... im embarraded that i ever listened to that... but i guess ya gotta start somewhere. the first time i started listening to "real" electronic music was my 19th bday in the wonderful city of Toronto, at the one and only Guvernment... then at the zone in the morning... i was in awe and have been hooked ever since.

dont be. sandstorm and zombie nation arent bad tracks. theyre just far too over-played.

I love that set, I think Pete Tong's intro to that EM is the best one yet.

I have so many Essential Mixes from '99 and 2000 that I can't even pick a specific one that necessarily got me into trance, litle alone one specific track that made me fall in love with trance. Aroura, Alya or Orbital, probably one of them. Then for vocal trance since I love love LOVE vocal trance it definitely would have been Kirsty Hawkshaw with It's a Fine Day or Jan Johnston with Skydive or maybe Flesh.

Rollergirl - Now It's The Time. i've come a long way since then.

Posted by brillo on Mar-15-2006 10:19:

as for singles... BT- flaming june, PvD- for an angel, Binary Finary- 1998, and everything by Gouryella of course!!

but as far as sets go... tiesto live at trance energy 2000 (the new year's eve party 1999-2000 put on by ID&T radio) is definitely seminal...

(please PM me if you have any comparable classic sets!!)

when i was still young, and sasha bought his first TT's, america was still clean, and trance wasnt born yet (im talking bout back in the days of early till mid 90's); Moby - Go. this track definately has a big influence on me, prolly the biggest.

after that, some tracks like;
- gouryella - gouryella
- ultra - free (svenson & gielen mix)
- dj tiesto - flight 643
- pete heller - big love
- des micthell - welcome to the dance
and most important/not to forget;
Delerium ft Sarah McLachlan - Silence (DJ Tisto I.S.O.S Remix), a track which gained massive support from the DJ in the local disco/club here. that how i noticed it/picked it up ... my thnx go out to him

those tracks did the rest of the work to me. eventually, a fast internet ocnnection was inevitable to explore all the genre's, taste them, and define my taste. also, my passion for DJ-ing began some years ago because of trance ...
now, house comes sliding in on my decks sometimes too

dj tiesto- theme from norefjell
