+1

i hate the "shut em down" logic that pervades canada. If we go by that logic we should shut down churches and foot locker, some of the many places that shootings happened in Toronto last year. Parks seem to be in the news a lot too. We should close all parks as well!

It's almost predictable that this is bound to happen at clubs. Did it not just happen a few weeks ago @ the Docks. Sadly this seems to be a regular things now.

I was talking to simms327 about it the other day and he brought up a good point. I wonder if those detectors really work? Think of all the bling (had to say that...lol), money, jewelry, belt buckles etc that people wear and still get through those things to Tonic.

They woudln't be able to stop everyone and make sure they removed all their metal like at the airport. I wouldn't be surprised if it is used as a deterent or only catches really large, obvious metal objects.

They still pat you down... how that person got past that is the mystery. All it takes is one of those security people not doing their job for something like this to happen.

no way...breakz people are too stoned to be violent

a knife or switchblade in the shoe is undetectable by a patdown and would register a small reading on the metal detector i guess.

All ages
the urban room

...

nothing more needs to be said. Bash me all you want about being stereotypical, but realize that stereotypes always have *some* truth associated with them.

And no, I don't blame hip hop itself, but I blame the glamourized and commercial hip hop music and so called "culture".

Somehow, they'll still try and link this to raves.

^^^ you're saying what at least half of us are thinking...

no, hip hop music isn't to blame...but funny how thugs don't seem to congregate at trance parties

I challenge anyone (because I'm too lazy and don't really care) to compile a list of all shootings, stabbings and violence in general that has occurred at clubs and bars...and examine the music and clientele.

I suspect we'll see a rather significant pattern.
