sex slavery is very real, even in countries like australia where the sex industry is miniscule compared to countries in Europe. Such examples would include a woman from Thailand that seeks a better life in a first world country like Australia, she will arrange to get herself smuggled into Australia, where the people smugglers will pay the plane tickets, forge the necessary documents and passports, teach them enough english to get through customs. Once she is in Australia she has to work off this debt (which from memory can be around 40K) which means she will be imprisoned in the brothel (i've forgotten how long, but it could be around a decade) all money going towards the smugglers. The crux is that these women enter into these arrangements fully aware of what will happen, aware that there is a very real chance of being the victim of domestic violence and rape, but the grass is always greener...

Price tag was about $2000, and he was free to take the girl with him. Apparently the local organized crime units threaten the girls with severe consequences to their families if they don't accept their fate. I'd say that that borderlines "forcing a woman to be a prostitute", but I guess it all depends on how you feel about your family. |
brilliant movie

try and find a foreign film, i think it's russian, called "Lilya 4 Eva" it's about a young girl in the former soviet union who is forced into sex slavery in Sweden, extremely sad brilliant movie
. Where is st_Andrew anyway?
I've seen Sex Slavery first hand in Cambodia, and Thailand; the women live as cattle, to serve the every whim of these rich balding, slightly obese, sixty year olds from first world countries who've flown down for a sex holidays.
I agree with legalising prostituion, the more the government can set up laws that allow prostituion but protect the rights of the workers the better. It's like the war on drugs, no matter how long this war will be waged it can never be won, Holland has the best approach.

isn't it in sweden that laws are strict towards the customers??
and Btw St_andrew well he told me he didn't want to go on TA because he wanted to have more time for school that's his "plan" as he told me last night but yeah sweden should open brothels with animals to satisfy customers .....St_andrew would be in heaven

yeah I was talking about the movie monster, it is good enough reason for me to think that there must be a way out of the sex trade for people who get tired of working there. Prosititution is fine by me as long as people aren't getting abused. How many other industries would hire an ex-hooker? The problem is that prostitution can become a hole that people cannot climb out of once they are in it, and it is wrong to allow that to happen because it is tantamount to forced sex labor.

Originally posted by CranberryJuice so it was on the news again ....for u european u maybe know that in germany prostitution is legal and brothels are a common thing ....so as u know in next june it's the world cup in germany so they were showing that next to the berlin stadium they built like a big brothel very luxurous with sauna and swimming pool and bedrooms for the future customers .....the owner of the brother was saying a lot of supporters will probably go to have some fun and that all this future money will be good as well for berlin's city they also interviewed a prostitute ( very ugly one but had a nice body) and she said indeed she was paying taxes had welfare and it was good that here in germany prostitution is legal .....right now there are around 400,000 prostitutes in germany (not all of them are voluntaries) but everyday in germany 1 million of customers go see the prostitutes (when u think germany has like 82 millions of people !!!) but what do u think?in france brothels have been closed decades ago but some debates are still on to see if we should open them up again..... im pretty mixed up actually ....of course it would be a good idea if prostitutes were having welfare in case they get sick or ....and everything but it's hard for me to believe that some girls become prostitutes by choice ....im sure it exists but to me it's a minority ....to me most of girls become prostitutes because of networks ..mafia and pimps ...so i just wanted your opinion about legal prostitution

Originally posted by Zombie0915 thats the shit im talking about, prostitution should only be legalized when we are absolutely sure that everyone who becomes a prostitute wants to be a prostitute, and when people want to quit prostititing themselves have a reasonable amount of other choices. We cant hae legal prostitution sucking people in who do not want to be there.

Originally posted by Lepanto you, ofcourse, speak for ALL the men. let me guess you're just going to go to that whole "men have different needs" or something lol? point wasn't that women don't have these needs but men always have double standards and arguing against that is foolish. i can garauntee that at least here in the States, if they try to make both male and female prostitution legal men will object. they think they can go out and do whatever and still expect their women to be faithfull to them.

. so what you saying is some woman/girl/female/w/e denied a job as a prostitute? Good. so she has morals and dignity.
Legal prostitution is going a bit far a la dutch style IMO, however controlled drug use would be good I think.
I dont mean, let everyone take drugs a few times a month under any circumstances, but if you are classified as a clear ADDICT with no real hope of return, government controlled facilities that just give you the cleanest and safest drugs and keep you away from everyone else... that would be a good idea, in my opinion.

The problem of a women being turned down for unemployment insurance because she turned down a job to be a prostitute cant be that prevalent of a problem. I mean, being a stripper is pretty much legal everywhere, and I havent heard of any cases where a woman was denied unemployment insurance because she refused to be a stripper. It seems to me that there are plenty of women in the west who are on unemployment insurance, and I doubt that as part of the terms of their unemployment agreement they were all asked if they ever turned down stripping which would negate their right to unemployment. So I think that its a moot point with respect to prostitution unless there is substantial empirical evidence to suggest otherwise with universally legal "amoral" activities such as stripping, the adult entertainment industry, etc.
I absolutely agree with Occrider and Shakka.
There is really no difference between going to a strip club and prostitution, because in both cases you're paying money for sexual services. So nearly every male has used a sexual service at least once, e.g. getting a lap dance, etc.
