ah, so when you INSTANTLY decided it was fake, as best as i can tell due to you finally noticing the extra Ns in CNNNN, that was based on what exactly if not prior experience of the show?

and anyone who\\'s ever worked with any form of media will tell you that. in fact, ever read arthur c. clarke? he mentioned this in at least two books, one them being 2061, when he said \\\"no one is an idiot on camera, while the world is watching\\\". But yeah that\\'s my own little imagination at work.

yeah, ive read a bit of clarke. he might well think that, but i vehemently disagree. firstly, if youre ignorantly pointing out a map of australia which is labelled iran, and you dont know its been mis-labelled, how does your argument fit then? you can make an idiot of yourself without intending to or realising that you are, yes?

and thats what we have here. a bunch of people who dont have much of an idea regarding geography, making silly comments they have no idea are silly.

are we finally comprehending? god i hope so

Posted by Lepanto on Mar-15-2006 02:22:

or you could just ask some people to be idiots and get on TV and they'll do it

oh how offensive, smart and witty. Iran sure has Israel rioting in the streets like that pathetic muslims did when the Denmark cartoons came out.

Yea that's the point. Most of them are as retarded, blunt, and as obvious as the mohammad ones. Although the statue of liberty one is rather cleverly done. But apparently we need facetious tags on this forum.

god I love cartoon wars.

the mUhammad ones were at least somewhat funny and most of all TRUE. the statue of liberty one is so stupid, it's something i'd expect in a high school newspaper with 3 pages total.

And one could quite easily juxtapose the statue of liberty one with our erosion of civil rights and it would be just as "TRUE" as the Mohammad ones. It's all a matter of interpretation and degree. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the message, the statue of liberty one characterizes liberty as being blind and unable to speak and is scheduled for demolition. It's certainly more clever more deep than sticking a stupid bomb in Mohammad's turban.

Ok well why don't you give us a critical analysis of one of the Mohammad cartoons you deem as clever and deep. I'm dying to hear your intellectual analysis.

Ok well fine why don't you critique ANY cartoon that you think is clever or deep so we at least know what kind of high standards and expectations you have. Sigh ...

Holy christ ... I'm not talking about a cartoon that you watch. I'm talking about a political cartoon. So you're saying that there are NO clever political cartoons?? Why do I even bother ...

Out of curiousity, you wouldn't happen to know an old poster named WhoaNellie, do you? Any particular relation?

o00o0o0oh you're talking about political cartoons? wow, how blind of me and no not out of the ones that were posted . they are a semi-funny in a sarcasm way, not in a political way. political cartoons use satire which is often minimal and not interesting. the last one i really liked was from the Times last spring, with a picture of a journalist being squished by a big hand in an american flag suit. if you turn the pic upside down the fingers of the squished journalist resemble the shape of the crown of the statue of liberty. that's about it for the cartoons . SUE ME, dick.

Then why the hell are you talking about "watching" cartoons??? Apparentely you're either blind because you can't read and put two and two together to figure out what the thread topic is about or you're stupid and you haven't figured out that you "watch" political cartoons in as much as you "watch" the newspaper. In what other way is anybody supposed to interpret your post? Why don't you logically deconstruct your own argument for us?

So the cartoon you liked was or was not clever? What exactly makes it clever?

Oh yes ... and sue you ... wow, now that was ... clever. You really got me there. I did not see that coming at all. I guess what's next is that I'm supposed to say "no take backs" and then go and tell mommy.

Aren't you almost 20? What's going on here?

Similar ... but Lepanto seems to have more sticking power. He's like a glutton for punishment.

Well to be honest, Lepanto deserves all the credit ... I can't make this stuff up (despite my best efforts to do so in the COR that one time).

yes because there was something a little bit more to it than a silly, unoriginal feel like the ones of most of those cartoons. Prime example of being lame, besides you, is that cartoon with the statue of librety with the stiched up eyes and mouth. How very thought out And yes sue me, YOU'RE going to tell me whats funny or witty? that'd be the day.

What made it original or creative? What themes did it address? Please tell us you can provide slightly more insight than there was something a little bit more to it.

Far be it for me to dictate whats funny or witty since humor is often in the eye of the beholder. To be honest I would be more than a little distressed if we shared the same taste in humor or wit. For example, you probably dont think its funny, but I think its funny that youre still trying to post in this thread. I think its funny that you never answered my question as to whether youre blind and couldnt figure out that this thread was about political cartoons or whether youre stupid and you actually think you watch print political cartoons. Not only did you not answer the question, but you completely pretended as if nothing had happened and the question was not asked. I think its funny how your crude insults are too juvenile to even be considered sophomoric. I think it's even funnier that that's your modus operandi in every argument you engage in because you lack the intellectual capacity to actually confront the substance of what the other person is saying.

You know what I dont think is funny? I dont think its funny that youre supposed to be 19 (and supposedly shopping around for colleges) when you seem more apt to be shopping around for a high school.
