Nice to meet you Shawn and All-nite! Juan tu danses si bien. Haha trop cool je dis a Juan que j'espere qu'on va entendre Du what u du et 1 minute apres elle commence! And nice to chill with you guys at moe's place after that crazy night!

PS: SVP LAISSEZ LES LUMIRES FERMES jusqu'a 5 min avant la fin!!! Des fois jme fais dire : vite on s'en va avant que les lumires ouvrent...

Excellent...

I walk up to Aria, and I see the sign: Miguel + DJ DAN + King Louis (desole, Lee Burrige annule)...I was really pissed. I saw Dan three times last year, the first one was really good, the second and third were like the first, set-wise, with a few new tracks here and there. So I was going in expecting to see the usual Dj Dan show and then be blown away by Lee, whom I've never seen and whose recent sets I didn't listen to on purpose coz I wanted to be "surprised"..yeah, he surprised me by not showing up

So I walk in and Miguel is playing his usual stuff. I respect him because he keeps on being original with his distinct sound that crosses acidy-folk-jazz with house beats (if you here an accordian in a house song, Miguel had something to do with it ), but it doesn't appeal to me so much musically, so during most of his set (he played an hour before Dan came on, when I got there) I sat it out.
I came with aria_clubber , Karl_24 , moevalith , Azia with her sister and Australian friend. Inside I met up with Anne, Stereohead and Meo.
I also met: all-nite-freak (finally! dude you're hilarious and crazy..I hope you come to afterhours more often), Enjoy and shawn05.
I also saw: Lopi and fastmp3.
Dan's set was pretty much a disaster, save for a couple of tracks I haven't heard before that were really good. But he gave a new meaning to commercialism: Drill, Sweet Dreams, etc. I was waiting for Love Generation and Hung Up, but I guess somebody would of been too sick from so much cheese. He also looked pissed, not into his set and I'm sure the lack of people in the club didn't help his mood or his DJing.
As he was finishing I thought to myself: Dan's worst set in Aria and no Lee? /

But then as Hakisak pointed out: our night was saved by local resident, King Louis. I swear, after he dropped the second track and all the way until the end I forgot all about Lee's cancellation. Louis spun the best set I've heard him spin anywhere (upper, aria etc.)..it was track after track, bangers left and right, Heat it Up, What Else Is There and a track I dont know the name of yet that I HAVE to get because it was fucking unbelievably amazing (Haki, u know what I'm talking about....WE HAVE TO GET THE NAME OF THAT TRACK!!!!) .. were just SOME of the highlights, so you can imagine...Trent's remix of Royksopp was the best I think, hearing that song in an afterhour is an experience all by itself.

Louis, you were ten times better than Dan and every single person that was in there knew it, your track selection keeps getting better and better and I was glad to hear that you didn't have the Swedish theme through-out the night but that you went a little outside of your usual style. It payed off big time, congratulations on your set bro.
By the end of the night the DJ-booth and the centre on the floor was filled with TAs...Haki, moe, Juan, shawn and Anne in the booth with Louis pumping up the crowd that had all-nite-freak, myself, Azia with her crew and then Juan who needed his space to dance .

Too bad Stereohead and Meo left just when the night was turning into something special and the music made 180 degree switch from to

The afterparty was sweet. A bunch of people mentioned above all came back to moevalith's who had the inspiration to spin for us (..and that's always nice ) and then Holden at the Controls..(I will post what I think of this in its designated thread and after I've heard the album again...suffice it to say that Holden is still number one).

Thanks for partying guys and gals and thank you Louis for literally making the night brilliant.

This night together with moevalith's set on Friday (review for that coming up later on that thread) made for an extremely fun weekend.

I chilled and did some pre-drinking at Louis' place with him and Mekroon...Louis qui prend mon verre pis qui le dose encore plus mon dieu hehe...Went to Central Station and saw Kal, song of the night: Say What You Want...My god, it's so fkn great, shivers everytime I hear it ...Lots of drinking at Central pis c'etait pas evident apres mon St Patty's Day de malade So I get to Aria (pas mal dose) with Anne and Mekroon at around 3:45am...Mon dieu sont fackallllllll le monde du hiphop qui cut dans le fil avec aucune classe a part de ca et en plus qui s'essaient avec moi et Anne ...Miguel was pumping some great songs, the place was sooooooo not full Dan came on and overall, I give him a 7.7/10. He was 1234567890 times better in November but still, nice to see him again. The cancellation of Burridge...bon, ben, kes tu veux...Je devrais commencer a m'habituer aux DJs qui chokent avec Desyn qui m'a tellllllement decu...And then Louis came on instead and my God, the place was pumpppppping when I left at 8:30am...Would have stayed but I was very tired. Louis ca sonnait juste debilement malade your tracks were great from what I heard. And again, Say What You Want Thanks for playing that track...I slept the rest of the weekend wouuuuu...Hi to the following: Mitsutranza, Karl24, Azia, Enjoy, All-nite-freak (my god, you must have wanted a shower so bad ), Moevalith ummm, Funken of course, Mekroon, hope I'm not forgetting anyone...oops I did HI LOPI and I really hope Aria's April line-up will be killer

Thought you were going to "destroy" the dancefloor erika

Posted by all-nite-freak on Mar-20-2006 22:00:

Oufff......j'ai mal partout..where to start..
My drinking fun started at 7 so by the time I got to Aria i was ripe and ready for non stop partying.I noticed the same type of shady yo yo dont know how to act in public hip hop crowd in the line as Erica did and was going crazy to get into the house room and as far away as possible from them.I think they are the main reason I dont go to Aria so often anymore and choose Stereo instead. When i finally made it into the house room Miguel Gracca was doing a very nice job of warming up the crowd ,and by the end of his set he was throwing out a few tracks that were pure gold.
Miguel did a great job IMO at putting me in the mood to break my ankles and legs on the dancefloor all nite.(I needed that, because when i found out Burridge was not showing up i was majorly pissed. Not as much as the friend i came with though..hahaha he was so pissed off and messed up he stayed like an hour before going to Circus instead.)Dj Dan is one of my favorite DJ's to see in a club and i was not impressed at all by his set.I think the situation with Dan is that Aria simply books him too much.Dan is a Dj that hasnt changed his sets that much over the years, so I think that booking him more than anyone else at Aria is not having the same pack them in like sardines effect as it did before.(I had sooo much room to dance it was crazy...good for me, bad for the club)I still enjoyed cutting a rug to his set and hopefully next time Dan visits he will play a set that is less "you are listening to mix96 live form club 1234".At least no Last Night A Dj Saved My Life....merci ...merci..i hate that f'n song .
Louis, you did a good job stepping in for Burridge. You have improved so much since the first time I saw you spin its incredible.I hope your
improvements continue, because if they do you have a nice future ahead of you.And colisse kill me if im wrong but I saw Louis smile!!!It was great to finally see someone behind the decks with a bit of energy.(Dan and Miguel looked like they were sleeping lmao)
Mistruanza:Friendly fucking guy man.Nice meeting you man we will party again.
Stereohead:I finally meet you and expect some crazy female version of me who goes crazy for beats...I was disapointedIt was seriously nice to meet you, and yes at the end of the night I danced so much that i couldnt wait to shower.I think i fell asleep in the tub
Anne:c'etait un plaisir de te rencontrer...je m'excuse que j'avais un peux de misere a tenir une conversation, j'avais trops le gout de danser et je ne suis pas habituer d'etre ajun
Mekroon:I finally met a peurf!Yessssssssssss.Have fun in Miami.
Lopi:cool to see you mang...how you can dance wearing a tuque is beyond me..
Enjoy:did you get a vinyl??Prolly not your lips werent chapped
Azia:crazy fucking girl man...going till the end.Very fun and a pleasure meeting you.
Taha:danse pede...etre assis c pour la job. Dance Dance revolution sti.
Mo:good to meet you and thanks for your generosity man...
Hakisac65:tse malad..i had fun.
If i'm forgetting anyone sorry...after sleeping for 18 hours my brain feels like its broken.
Cheers
J
