You missed my point All-night about "the good old days", I wasn't saying that it was better, I love this scene as much as before. i'm saying that track for track, there's no reason to think that music was better before, unless you mix it up with memories (fuzzy or not)of great partying. The context of partying was better, And we can't deny that.

Also, not liking a new trend, doesn't mean it's necessary bad music.

It's pretty obvious that not ALL people are now bitter and crancky, and individualists, or that the scene sucks. I would have stop playing.

i maybe missed your point, but from my perspective things were better.As much as i despize the term Plur the sona days were great because you could walk in 1 night alone and leave with tons of new friends or have an interesting experience.I'm not saying its not possible today, but back then the after aspect of the scene was so new it seemed like there was limitless room to grow.I'm not saying that the scene sucks or the music sucks today, but if you take the attendance at aria into consideration c sur que c'est plus pareil.I remember the days when a friday night at Aria without a headliner would be packed(Preach omg techno fridays que ca me manque)...today you dont see it as much.As much as i like the new tendancy of music leaning towards the electro tip, I am just worried that electro becomes the new Trance.(So popular that the market get saturated with sub par releases in an attempt to cash in on the genres popularity.This is the state of trance right now no pun intended.)

I think it's doubtful that you see a trend dominating like trance did for the moment, it's going too fast. it's the flavour of the month.

Electro as always been there, will come and go. I remember when everybody was going nuts on Acid House last year, buying every Josh Wink they could find, it was the new thing... It lasted 6 months.

its not quite as bad as that yet...

To be honest i think happy hardcore is going to become the new "in" thing. For example Yoji the japanese samurai master of hardcore, is already playing at the Guv in May. This clearly shows a growing trend towards the harder side of edm, maybe this has to do with the way the world is now...just a thought. Electro will also stay if it somehow incorporated into the new hardcore yoji style trned, maybe like hardcore happy electro. That would for sure take over the dance world. But thing is, I do listen for the set's story, or the set's sound, not just the tracks the DJ usually plays...

To be honest, guys like Timo Maas for istance... I dont always recognize every track, in fact I dont recognise MOST of the tracks, but I loooooooove Timo Maas as a dj, all the sets of his Ive heard have had a story and to accent that the guy can produce.

Satoshi Tomiie is another one (similar in style to Timo), that plays that great dark spooky stuff, he too can get to you somehow with his tunes.



ON THE OTHER HAND

I will still always go out to see guys like Ferry, Armin etc etc, just because it'll always be a reminder as to what got me into the music. I can differentiate between the pop trancy/electro/prog DJs that are more or less rockstars, and the DJs that are there to spin what THEY want to spin, however dark/dirty/underground it is.

happy hardcore and gabber is not music, its drug paraphanelia propogated by Norweigian body builders...Johnny cochran does not like this...

You're right, today's music is oriented towards a profit and a lot of big names have "sold-out." But remember this, for every top 10 there is an equal list of people who've just hit the top 100 and are about to work their way up. A DJ, like any other musician, evolves on a constant basis. Each new track he picks up at the record store is a stepping stone to reaching a new plateau.

The old stuff is always there for nostalgia.

I don't think electro is going to last. It's just another trend. I think trance and house will always be the most popular genres no matter what.
