<--- Expert camper. I do it often enough.

Haven't fought a bear yet so I'm not that much of an expert.

PS: End of August please!

I hate camping and will only do it for one event this summer
I don't know what happend to me but the older I got, the more prissy I got about sleeping in a tent that gets hot in the morning when you wake up and sleeping on a hard floor with branches poking your back and I just stopped.. too much work.. LOL

Yes, I am a suck! But I will possibly come visit for a day/night on the weekend if I am not too broke and not in Europe.

Keep me posted.

Oh, you'll do one camping for beats and friends!

Camping does have more logistical burden than a cottage however. Plus the weather factor.

Okay now that I think about the though of camping for 3 days and partying...it really doesn't appeal to me (WEMF was fun and all but by the third day I felt more disgusting than ever).

I'd rather have my bed and shower

I hope I'll finally be able to make it to one of these cottage parites. I usually go away for 2 weeks in August...but summer school may be conflicting with that...and would also be conflicting with me staying at the cottage for a week. I could probably come up for a few days though. Hopefully things will work out.

^^ That would be perfect since I wanna be up for LOL Loong trip to Canada it loooks like!

Some critical thinking to play devil's advocate....

If it's camping, I highly doubt we'll have full traffic for the full week. I would imagine that a weekend would be when most people would come... especially because most people can't take a full week of vacation from work. Unless you get a cottage for free or extremely cheap, would it be worth the risk?

Cottage would be a bit different... as people DO tend to go away to cottages for a week or more in the summer. However, generally when each person has a bed. I don't think I could deal with a floor for a full week.

So then the question is... how much would it cost for a full week... and WHAT IF you get very few people coming for Monday to Thursday? Last thing you'd want is for you to be out the cash again.

Though a week is a fantastic idea, I can see a weekend being more successful. You would have everyone come at the same time and have full energy for a couple nights of partying. Like WEMF for example... there's NO WAY I could do that for a full week... but a weekend is just right. By the end of the weekend, I'm definitely spent!

Whatever happens... I fully support the idea

Posted by DJ_Ampz on Mar-28-2006 17:42:

I think the idea is that the week is a week relaxaction thing

Nothing hard core during the week, maybe have a dj have an extended set like 3 hours a night, nothing past 2 am. just chillin and all. then fri sat push it a bit more.

I think if we get a private ta cottage, then we can keep it very cheep, ie under $5 night for week days and maybe a bit more during the weekend.

I dont know, numbers i have to re-look at being as thought I fucked up the last time.

There was no fucking up, everything was done very well, it's the people who didn't show that made the financial situation stumble.

Although I agree with having a full week, that sounds fantastical*, I do however agree aswell with Tim and the thought of people not coming up for the whole week, and the money situation not working as planned. Taking time off work is hard unless you book it off now. And the sleeping situation for a whole week would be something serious to concider. Cottages are amazing, the one thing that isn't, are the floors, lol, been there / done that !!

Im sure that you could make the prices higher * don't slap me people *, but if you think about it, 1 - all the work that goes into planning, and organizing and such, it's all worth it. So for the week days 1 price and the week-end, jack it up a little does sound just about right.
If we get a private cottage, and it's cheap and whatnot that does sound perfect as long as it's not in the middle of butt-fuck idaho, aka-nowhere lol. I'm sure with more thought and the planning process continues you'll work everything out.

Posted by Yohan on Mar-28-2006 17:59:

^I prefer the Buttfuck, Nowhere better, as long as we have access to electricity.

Just friends and beats for a week. I can deal with it.

And if it's for a week, better set up an actual meal schedule so that people aren't starving and don't have to worry about eating. A bit higher cost, but at least less worry. (those volunteer cooks can go for free then?)

Absolutely... the cost of attendance should NEVER equal that of the expenses. There's a lot of work and planning that goes into something like this and people are always fine (or should be) with a "buffer" of additional funds. If you come up short, you've saved your butt. If you come out ahead... BONUS. If you feel bad taking the extra money... buy a keg!

Barry... first and formost... COVER YOUR ASS... then think about others. When you're crunching numbers, ALWAYS create a "best case" and "worst case" scenario. Aim high, but expect to actually hit somewhere in the middle.

- I meant butfuck nowhere as in to get there.
- Yes, high cost, I mean it's a full week ( for those willing to go for the full week)
- Meals yes, i think If you bring a ton of food with you, and you want to cook, maybe you don;t have to pay as much, or at all, depends on what the price of the cottage is you know.
- I just got uber excited and it's only March.
- As the planning goes on, more and more will be worked out.

Yes, as Tim says, Cover your ass. After all you are the main person behind this, no? You are the one putting it together for the most part, and putting your money on the line for us to have a good time, so It's you that should be taken care of first.
