had the assessment today, as it turns out my longsightedness is too much for lasik but i have been offered an alternative in ICL/IOL surgery which involves surgically implanting a lense inside my eyes as described below:

Prior to surgery, drops are placed in the eye to reduce pupil size. An instrument is attached to hold open the eyelids during the procedure, and a local anesthetic is given to numb the eye's surface.

An incision then is made into the eye. The Verisyse phakic IOL is inserted and attached to the colored portion of the eye (iris). Tiny, dissolvable stitches are used to close the wound.

conveniently this alternative solution is also a few thousand dollars more expensive than lasik so looking at close to 10k all up. fun times ahead. i have an appointment to see the surgeon who performs this procedure on the third of next month. will keep you guys posted. cheerin.

The eyes have incredible durability and repairability...

I've been told that the there are procedures where a needle can be inserted straight through the eyes, to get to the back of the eye socket.

I think it might have something to do with one of the 12 facial nerves, or maybe the vasculuture at the back of the eye, that needs to be reached.

Dancing Dude

my brother is 11 - and has the worst eye sight ever. They said he will probably need laser eye surgery if he wants to drive when he is 18. How young can you get it?
