main room being 28,000 sq.ft? i find that a little hard to believe.

i think maybe the bouncer couldnt hear what you were saying and just made up a number.

Posted by King Luis on Apr-04-2006 17:20:

the guv: 22000sqft
kool haus: 27000sqft
d'luxe lounge: 22000sqft

all the other rooms are under 5000sqft.

those numbers have got to be outdated or just completley wrong, deluxe lounge is tiny.

that would explain a lot when it comes to how packed it is in there. The guys working the door think they are only 1/3 of the way to capacity and keeping letting people in! lol.

I would love to get a bunch of people outside at one of the all axcess events and just stand at every door all night with a clicker counter counting the people going in and out and then hand the numbers over to the police and city hall.

true dat.

btw...I thought the 3k figure thrown around for Guv is the # of people that go through the place on a typical night (i.e. total #people passing through from open to close...not people inside all at once). does that make sense?

3k seems like a LOT to be in there all at the same time (though I wouldn't be surprised)

if they have 6500 capacity for all rooms... that means the complexe probably lets in a little more then 9000 people in...

cuz in and out... you have 7000 people inside at the SAME time.... with the bathrooms and the coatchecks and all the other little areas... you can breathe....

but i wouldnt go

lol

But are we talking capacity about how much they're allowed by LAW? Or how many they actually CAN cram in? I can see 10,000 being law, and 14,000 + being what they actually do.

i once was at guv when it was packed with 40,000 people!

lol, nice one

Posted by Platipus on Apr-04-2006 23:51:

a general equation used by AGCO to determine the maximum capacity for indoor areas not determined. Since I haven't seen the capacity plate, this will get us close to the "Legal" limit. +/- 15%

Divide the permit area (sq. m) by 1.11 sq. m

e.g. 30m x 60m = 1800 sq. m / 1.11 = 1621 persons

I know at other clubs, they sometimes have fire marshals doing that. And most of the time that means that the club is in shit and will most likely close down.

So for Rank 1 last November, which rooms were open and how many people were there? (Compared to other events anyway - i.e. packed, empty etc)

MAY not be?

Posted by Deam on Apr-06-2006 01:21:

28,000!
While others have already said that is likely incorrect, think of this example. The Skydome(er..Rogers Centre): 50,000+ attendance during the Jays better days. Anyone ever leave a baseball game (even when it's half capacity) or hockey game and notice how many people that is? 20,000+ people in one place is a lot of people.

The Guv is a nightmare for fire code ! The exit doors could barely be seen because of the darkness if there were an energency. The exceeded occupancy load is dangerous too. The fire code is based on bare minimums, and to think that even they arent being met is definitly scary.

Posted by nadezhda on Apr-06-2006 02:47:

i think it's safe to say what is a safe capacity at guv is definitely several hundred people less than what they cram in at huge events.
