hmmmmmmmm..... personally i feel Trance Nation 2001 more, but u've got to understand, both compilations are COMPLETELY different in track selection and style!!!!!

Posted by ABTsportsline on Feb-01-2002 20:26:

hmmm.... i wonder if anyone even listened to Politics of Dancing?

I usually like PvD's livesets, but that album downright sucked.

i think people here are voting on the actual DJ's instead of the CD's....

Posted by toxa on Feb-01-2002 20:32:

In my opinion it was nice to see Ferry mix some tracks that he never mixed before into his livesets....like for example i never heard ferry play flight 643 but its good that he decided to explore new territory....as for PVD well Politics of Dancing was more or less his favorites from the past year and listening to his recent sets he still plays many songs from politics.
As big as i am a ferry fan....i think politics of dancing is a little better!!!

Posted by Xplorer on Feb-01-2002 21:47:

POD is the best compilation that came out in the last year or more with nothing even close to it, so my vote goes to PvD naturally

dude, what are you talking about, i listen to POD (disc 2) all the time. its not the greatest album of all time for sure, but it beats ferry's cheese nation 2001.. cmon.. who wants to hear 4:00 minute edits of tracks .. even tho his mixes are clean (of course)
and seriously, there's only one track i actually dislike on POD (the U2) but trance nation has several horrible nasty tracks, e.g. scot project...

that being said, i dont even like POD So much, id give it an 8/10 or so.

Posted by Rakoon on Feb-02-2002 00:43:

Ok, didnt know that it was what you meant by Trance Nation 5. Anyway my vote goes to Trance Nation. It has way more energy and great tracks than Politics. Politics sounds like it has the same bassline in every track and the tracks low energy, more like something you would listen to on your CD player when you go to sleep

Posted by dvd on Feb-02-2002 01:48:

IMO, trance nation 2001 cd 2 sucked =[ cd 1 was great. POD was good also but yeah, POD WINS... also my iPOD wins too =] as far as mp3 players go..but thats another story.

Shame / Disagreement

hmmmm
u cant even 'compare' the 2. its hard to!
as they are both great, and unique in their own way ...

its not possible to compare. i love all the TN's ferry has done...
they are all uplifting and energetic/

POD is too, but, there is more originality and uniqueness to the CD,. as hes rewoked traks and stuff, and not plainly mixed it thru.

both get my vote of approval!

greets / helen

*currently playing: "illuminate" - Orbital (Charlie may remix)

although i didnt really like trance nation 2001 i chose it because i cannot take that same kick drum for 60 minutes at a time

Posted by djnick on Feb-02-2002 08:59:

trance nation 5, ferry has better track list that pvd, also seems pvd only likes to play people on his own label or something, and he just had to do all those damn reworks, liek i want to hear your shit pvd, your mixing the cd for god sakes i want to hear the original tune, not your souped up version of it, anyways he never plays, tiesto/armin/ferry productions, seriously pvd is waaaaay over rated, you guys get too much into the politics of all this shit, its about the songs, not the dj in mix cd's.

Posted by Ian on Feb-02-2002 11:07:

I wasn't as impressed with TN2001 as 1 2 and 3, number 4 was slightly more cheesy, but if you put POD up vs the first 3 trance nations, there'd be no contest whatsoever, I'd have to call a draw in the 2 named ones though

Mayday 2oo1 Paul played the best set that day!

My vote goes for:

Posted by patticus on Feb-02-2002 12:00:

yah no doubt the kick drum is annoying, and trance nation 1 and 2, maybe 3, would beat out POD..

but man.. just TOO much "radio trance" on ferry corsten's mix.

and pvd having way out west, lexicon 4, nu-nrg, sagitaire, and mirco de govia (not to mention solid sleep) clinches it for me tracks wise

Well, why would you vote for the dj's and vote for PvD cuz you like his stuff and not have listened to his cd?? doesn't make sense to me!

the cd just happens to bring back special memories, and that's why I voted for it.....

better tracklist???? what the hell are you talkin about?
synaesthesia...baguio track...Skydive...man these are preety old IMO.
and what is this cheezy firwire????

Reach me, Epic Monolith, Dreamland, Starchildren, Activity.... just think about it!

and yes he plays Tiesto & Armin tracks....

Posted by Eugene on Feb-02-2002 19:13:

I do not like PvD's Politics of Dancing, I agree with Juricimo that it's pretty boring.

So yes, Ferry's Trance Nation wins, for me.

you also cant compare them when they were released far apart from each other, the time TN5 was out it had way better tracks.

Schiller/Das Glockenspiel
Push/Strange World
Tenth Planet/Ghosts
Cosmic Gate/Fire Wire
Warrior / Voodoo
Thrillseekers / Synaesthesia
Gouryella / Tenshi
Kamaya Painters / Wasteland
Bedrock - Beautiful Strange
Mekka - Diamondback
Freefall - Skydive (I Feel Wonderful)

those songs alone put POD to shame, i mean everyone down rigth knows cd 1 sucked, because theres nothing to look forward to, but cd2 didnt have much to offer for its $18.99 price tag, only song i liked from POD cd2 was dreamland, everything else puts me to sleep....ZZZzzzZZZZZ

i could care less if DefJam records made it, as long as the tracks are good is that that matters.
