And American sports aren't? Baseball... Jesus Christ that game could turn me to stone. American football? The only game where the players spend more time standing around talking than actually playing. Then there's basketball, which goes way too far in the other direction, by having constant scoring. Wow, another 3 points... not as if it has any impact or meaning as it'll happen another 56,000 times before the game ends.

Football is only boring if you don't have any interest (duh). No sport is particularly exciting without some involvement, but football really rewards the people who care. Because goals are quite rare and hard to score, there's fucking impact to the game and to the players when they do score. Supporting a team which is playing can be really dramatic stuff, which is why people who usually have no interest tend to watch religiously during the World Cup, as everyone supports their national side.

theres a reason soccer/football (as it should be called) is the most popular sport in the world..

Haha true. It is the most fustrating sport to watch. The ball changes teams SO much I turn it off. Plus this list is whack. I didn't vote and none of those would be my choice.

Cuz it isnt. Auto racing is.

This thread quickly turned to a discussion about football. Didn't see it coming.

What on earth do you base that claim on?

As an American, I've gotta say that this is bullshit. You just don't know how to watch it. You're used to the insta-gratification and mile-a-minute pace of most American Sports.

And now we get to the root of the problem. Americans see this as a bad thing. This is in fact the reason that the tension reaches such high points in the game. It builds over so many possessions and losses until it explodes in a single score. Americans just don't have the patience to wait that long.

Posted by Allied Nations on Apr-09-2006 07:24:

Stereotype entire nations much?

Most of the people who have posted in this thread are ignorant dumbshits.

Get a fucking clue when talking about nations and people.

Except for basketball, I consider the sports mentioned above as utterly boring. Soccer can be boring, too, but not as boring as baseball can be imho.

Posted by tiesto14 on Apr-09-2006 15:12:

baseball can be boring...but the road to the World Series is very exciting.

say what you want but my favorite sport is tennis..i really get into it to the point where my heart starts pounding when i watch some matches

The source of the page in the trance/commercial thread I started was a scan of a page in BPM magazine. I actually ripped it off of a post on another message board, where everybody picks on trance, because I thought you all would get a kick out of it.

I wasn't aware that it was a list for America's favorite DJ's, If it were then surely somebody would have provided some sort of link by now.

Its not like football is completely unappreciated in America, it just seems that we would rather watch children play it than professionals. Across the street from where I live is little leage soccer and the screaming wakes me up every saturday morning, grrrr.

American football really isn't that bad either, the appeal is in the strategy, how atheletes of all different builds come together to score a touchdown, and the fun of running around in plastic armor and knocking people over. One may think we are a bunch of sissies because of all the padding and standing around, but the pads and the playbooks and the strategy are part of the fun, if only you would try playing it a little more. Aside from track and field I have trouble thinking of any other sport that allows for such a wide variety of differently built athletes to play together, the negetive side affect being all the time it takes to plan and all the padding it takes to keep a really big guy from hurting a really little guy.

Baseball definately sucks ass though, may the best pharmacist win!

The list seems fairly accurate, except for Tall Paul. Irene shouldn't be there, but people do love her here. Glad to see Jon Bishop on the runner ups list. Although I don't believe he's too well known internationally, he's pretty big in the states (especially Colorado). In my mind Armin should be number one, but that's just my preference.

I'll tell you how much America knows about dance music.

This weekend I participated in a church camp game in which we all stood in a circle. A person in the middle shouted a trait they had, and everyone that had that trait was to run to another spot in the circle. I screamed "I'm a DJ!!!" and noone even twitched.

I've asked probably 100 different people in the course of my highschool years "Do you know who Tisto is?" and I think around 2 people have said yes. They then followed with "Yeah! As The Rush Comes was my favorite track from him!"

America needs a dance music revolution and fast.
