Honestly I don't care if people clean house, some like it dirty and messy (houses I mean)
Lots of people might be confused here because the lines between downtempo/ambient and chill out are blurred and to me, its all calm music. Pork Recordings came out with some dopeass downtempo compilations but the problem like Ninja tunes, it goes off into the experimentalism world, with sound samples thrown in like crack.
76:14 is still the landmark album, followed closely by Higher Intelligence Agency/Biosphere'd Polar Sequences.
Perhaps a little Boards of Canada would help.
the colloboration of Spook
tracks like Fall,Running Away and the cover of The Cure's Lullaby absolutely sublime
Spook - The Dusk Sessions (album) more info here and Spook-Myspace
DJ Food indeed!
Epoch as well.

| Originally posted by meneedit DJ Shadow, now theres an interesting character. Years ago everybody was like "Oh, ya gotta get 'Endtroducing' by DJ Shadow". Soooo many people were saying that, so I thought "what have I got to lose?". hmmmm. I'm still not quite sure where to stand with DJ Shadow. "Endtroducing" has so many of those 1:00 tracks that dont actually contain any music. |
... and if you like DJ Shadow, then check out The Prunes (downtempo, hip-hop)

I hear RJD2 is good. Never heard his stuff though.
