Yep, I really like the mango. Ryan and I thought they should expand to other flavors though like lychee and coconut. The Chinatown Ice Cream factory should hook it up!

TJ's was like a battle zone yesterday around 6:30. I was actually worried the ice cream would melt while I waited in line, but I got through in about 15-20 minutes and rushed those balls home.

Groundhog, the line has calmed down, there was no line to get in at rush hour lately but inside is insanely crowded and the line to the register is 10 mins long

I walk past there twice a day, and the majority of the time, there's still a line in the evenings, no matter if it's 6:15 or 8. When there's not a line, it looks even more crowded than usual inside. Big thumbs down to overcrowded grocery stores.

What blows my mind though is how many people walk out with only 1 bag. I mean, if you're going to wait that long, stock up, people.

Best advice is, DON'T GO ON WEEKENDS. Far too many people who come down there because it's the only time that they can. The line was almost to Irving one day we went by in the late afternoon.

Speaking of lines... I've lived in the area for 2 years and still haven't gone to Yama though I hear rave reviews. Every time I stop by there's at least a 45 minute wait. With so many other options close by we end up going somewhere else.

Maybe an early dinner on a weekday is the best bet?

Would you be interested in going tomorrow, then hitting up the Robots party @ Cafe Deville afterwards? We're not really looking for craziness this weekend, as we've pushed ourselves pretty hard the past 2 weekends and need a rest, as there's a few more back-to-back nights coming up in the next few weeks.

i may be interested ryan!

oh blah blah blah pushed ourselves too hard hush it hahaha you live that lifestyle admit it!

tomorrow is do-able, i think you get a long wait because you get out of work pretty late. I get out at work max 430 maybe 5 (pwnage), tomorrow i'll consider, call u later tonight about it...anyone else wanna join? alisa/frost? sal? vern? anyone? anyone?

actually the latest i've been to yama has been hrmm 6:30-7, waited at most 20mins to be seated...it's a small small place btw lol

edit2
there is one on houston and laguardia i believe, that one is much bigger than irvings

Actually, I've never been with her when she's tried to go. I think once she went with Mindy and some other girls. If we go that early, what's the plan between dinner and Cafe Deville? We could have drinks and all play Risk at my place (which is pretty close to both Yama and Deville) if it comes in the mail today or tomorrow

The only issue with going to my place is that I don't have a living room, but I do have a small dining room. I can fit like 3 people besides Christina and I in my room if I clean up.

haha there's a difference between "pushing" ourselves and downright abusing ourselves. The past couple weekends have been the latter.

I technically have a 9-5 job, but everyone's such a workaholic they stay later, and I feel guilty leaving on time. I could, however, leave earlier tomorrow if we definitely want to do Yama. Also, I know the one by Laguardia you're talking about. The times I've passed that one there's been a line outside like it was a club opening lol I think I always go during rush hour.

ok so tentatively we have plans for early friday night at either yama's on Irving or LGA - someone pick a convenient time...i can go right after work if i have to, would prefer to go home and change but it works for me....

don't think i'll make it to deville, trying to stay in and save money for my trip to PR in May...sacrifices i say...

So we have
Peadpod, Bliss, Soap, GHB, and I, any other takers???

Although I do fear a large group at a place like yama's won't go over too well, as for the location, i say LGA over Irving...Irv is TIGHT! I'm talking tiny, LGA has atleast another small elevated area, decor is more modern too...

Ryan/Soap coordination on this?

I'm flexible!

My only request is that it's after 7, 6:30 at the earliest. Work's been slow lately, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Sal's in =) I think it's probably best to meet at 6:30 in LGA. Those who can't make it until later just meet us when you can. We'll probably have to wait anyway.

Those who have been there before, will they seat us even if the entire party isn't there yet?

I do not believe so, especially on a friday night.

Yeah, we'll meet you there. If you can't find us, just wait around for a bit, we'll show up.

lol my fault for the confusion. It's here http://maps.citysearch.com/location/11313446? by Laguardia Place.

Hmm, since they won't seat us until everyone's there. What's a realistic meetup time that everyone can make?

there're only two large tables at the yama on houston

Posted by Groundhog Boy on Apr-13-2006 21:54:

Define "large." There's at most, what, 6 of us (Dani, Brian, Alisa, Bubbles, you and me)

i believe one fits 6, the other 8. they can't really fit any larger because of the space there
