i am having a bit of a problem with my ebay purchase..my own ignorance completely. i JUST purchased a phone and am about to pay for it over paypal. they are charging me for the cost of the phone PLUS shipping. however i want to pick up the phone. the seller says that they do local pickup and its cheaper/faster for me, as i am poor and need the phone within 3 days.

anyone know how i can pay for this without the shipping and handling and let the seller know i will be there to pick it up??

thanks

pay full price and ask seller to give you some of your cash back when you go and meet him/her?

People are a lot more talkative in person and with a big friend.

I actually did tell this guy that I was prepared to drive to Florida to 'visit' him for a refund if ness. I'm glad I didn't have to waste my time doing that though.

i haven't sent the money through yet. i emailed the seller and hopefully he'll let me just pay in cash when i pick up the item. that way i can see what i'm getting before i pay too

If they do local pick up then go for it, thats what i would of done also

Yeah - just email the person and say you'll do local pickup. Shouldn't be a problem.

I've been buying stuff on ebay since 2001 - I use half.com for books and ebay for other items - like a 2GB memory card for my camera, ear plugs, you name it. Never yet encountered a problem - fingers crossed!

Those I wouldn't recommend getting on Ebay. There are a LOT of fake ones out there.

*shrug*

I got the real thing as far as I know - used it in Miami, Montreal, etc. and it's been fine....obviously, you take risks with what you buy on ebay but I preferred the $50 price tag to the $100+ one elsewhere.

If it were a fake, what would I be looking for?

Seems to only happen with the "memorysticks pro duos" that Sony and Sandisk make.

Kewl - I have a Kodak flat memory card so that shouldn't apply but, regardless, it's worked wonderfully. Now I just need an extra battery for the Festival and I'll be golden.
