There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
Theres a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But youll never see the end of the road
While youre travelling with me

Hey now, hey now
Dont dream its over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they wont win

Now Im towing my car, theres a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but theres no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the t.v. page

Hey now, hey now
Dont dream its over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they wont win

Now Im walking again to the beat of a drum
And Im counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

Hey now, hey now
Dont dream its over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Dont ever let them win

If I were to have broken up before Id imagine Id be angry at something either way and go for some kind of hate music with lots of screaming and id have 3 beers, put on my headphones, and ride my motorcycle at 150 down the i-90 floating bridge

This is in contrast to the last breakup song that found me about 5 years ago which was Lost Witness - Song to the Siren (oakenfold rmx), because can't sleep is somewhat upbeat and is a song i actually like, whereas Song to the Siren was more of just a depressing song that seemed to fit the mood.

Anyway has anyone else used either of these, or any other songs for this purpose??? I'm curious.

stop being so emo.

99 problems by Jay Z

just listen to any hard core rap song about money n hoes and being a pimp. it's surprisingly invigorating after a break up, or even if u just get in a big fight with your man or girlfriend. it makes u think, "yea fuck that bitch/asshole! i'm gonna go out with my boys/girls this weekend and meet a bunch of hoes/hot guys"

o.a.r. - so moved on.
quote:
When I woke today, felt another way
Everything was gonna be fine
When my head rose up, then my legs came too
Quarter past nine was the time
Well I used to lose floating memories, found myself wishing I'd remember old times
But I woke today
Felt another way
Im free in my mind to fly

Hey, hey

I stepped out the door, I didn't know what for
I saw the lady walking along
Well I could have cried out what I wanted to say
But I am sick of all this terrible charm
Well I used to be into apologies, a regular to shame I was shy
But I woke today
I felt another way
Im free in my mind to fly

Well I'm through the gates
I got to my house about a quarter to eight and I made a drink,
I got about an hour to relax and just think, I'm just bored,
Nothing's ever gonna be the same anymore
With my drink in hand, up to stand and I was off to a regular day
With my drink in hand I got up to stand and I was off to a regular day

The morning dragged on, I was walking along
Missing pieces fell to the ground
Apparently, I could not see
But I saw everything going down
So I packed my bags and I was on my way
I feel a little different in a different way
But like I said when I got out of my bed, I was off to a regular day

I could not hide, I wore my pride
It felt good to be on the run
The air quality is something new to me and I got along fine with that sun
And when I rest my head and I lay down to my bed
I put the pieces down with that blame
And if all goes well, at the morning bell
I'll be feeling free just the same

Well I'm through the gates
I got to my house about a quarter to eight and I made a drink
I got about an hour to relax and just think, I'm just bored
Nothing's ever gonna be the same anymore
With my drink in hand Im up to stand and I was off to a regular day
With my drink in hand I got up to stand and I was off to a regular day

I thought I told you a thousand times before
But you come knock, knock, knock, knocking at my door
I dont need you around
I need my soul
But youve been taking me out my mind
And I dont want it back
Dont need it back
Just pack up your shit and get gone
And dont let the door gonna slam you in the, thing
When you get up and your wrong
And I, Ive got to tell you today
That I am so moved on in every single way
And if I could drink from the water again I would turn it down
Because the fountain is full when I want it to be
And I dont need it anymore you see
So get it together and get gone baby
Cause I, I, I, Im so moved

I am so moved on
So moved on
Ive got my thing and Im gone
I am so moved on
So moved on
Im gone

I am so moved on
Im gone
Im gone
Im all out gone

Why think about bad times like that if you are happy now?

Adam Sandler's - Somebody Kill Me
[spoken]
Ok, I just want to warn you that when I wrote this song I was listening to the
Cure a lot.

[sung]
You dont know how much I need you.
While youre near me I dont feel blue.
And when we kiss I know that you need me too.
I cant believe I found a love thats so pure and true.

But it all was bullshit.
It was a goddam joke.
And when I think of you linda,
I hope you fucking choke.

I hope youre glad with what youve done to me.
I lay in bed all day long feeling melancholy.
You left me here all alone, tears running constantly.

Oh somebody kill me please,
Somebody kill me plee-ase,
Im on my knees,
Pretty pretty please kill me.

I want to die.
Put a bullet in my head.

[spoken]
Kid: youre going to the mental institution

Barry White - Let The Music Play

I am truly amazed at the power and soul behind this RnB-Disco classic. During this song Barry talks about his former love and how he misses her greatly so he goes to the discotheque and uses the music to get over her. In the end he doesn't quite achieve moving on without her, but at least he gets his pain out in the open rather than bottling it up through song. Here's the sample.
