Preach

Preach is playing Trance too ;-)

(Bal en Blanc) in Montreal few days ago into the Trance Room

Posted by Munchy on Apr-26-2006 04:23:

Preach plays trance when he wants to. He's THAT good!

He dropped some trance tracks at BeB... Broken Inside, Language (Santiago Nino Dub Tech Mix), etc...

Meh, I didn't read the title, so sue me.

Jon O'Bir definitely.
Didn't know there was other trance out there other than ASOT rubbish until I heard a set from Jon.

I just would like to get your opinions about the DJs who have released and will be releasing very soon this year. Especially, I want to concentrate on Trance DJs. So far, we've got albums from Tiesto (ISOS 5) and AvB (ASOT 2006) but we are awaiting Ferry's new artist album L.E.F., Oakenfold's new artist album 'A Lively Mind', Johan Gielen's new artist album and etc..I know it is not that true to compare artist albums and mix compilations but I just wanna get to know your opinions, at least for Tiesto and Armin since both have released Mix Compilations. I don't think Tiesto did his best with ISOS 5 and It is nothing but a normal ISOS serie. The mixing is worse than the other series though, in my opinion.Tiesto has changed much since 2004. I agree with anyone who tells me that he was the best during 2002-2004 but after 2004, he has changed his music and living style. He has started to be an idol for Trance music fans all around the world and everywhere he goes, he does it like an entertaining show done by a businessman. This can be fine but open to discussion for Electronic Music but if he wants be knows with 'The Sound Of Tiesto' then It is perfectly fine for him and listeners but in my view, he can't compete within the Trance arena no more because many people was expecting ISOS 5 to be an 'Return of the Legend' album but it totally disappointed people. Housy sounds and worse mixing compared to other ISOS series brought about this end. Okay, Armin also says that he accepts and calls hic music 'Dance Music' since the genres are very linked and hard to distinguish between themselves and he says Don't be a prisoner of your own style. But, at the end of the day you gotta keep your style not that diverted and enough steady. At least, this is my point of view. I truly believe that Armin will lead the way of Trance this year again since he has released an incredible ASOT in terms of both track selections and mixing.

time to wake up. there is a world beyond Armin. Trance doesn't start and end with Armin or Tiesto.

John 00 Fleming is probably the only dj that spins trance I like.

Posted by AndySmith on Apr-26-2006 12:29:

I like many differnt types of trance,
so

For harder techy trance its: SvD
For Floaty euphoric trance its: A&B
For uplifting trance its: AvB (and Jon O'Bir is on the up!)
For progressive trance its: Andy Moor
For more sort of tribal/floaty trance its: PvD (he has awesome track selection and excellent mixing ability)

Over all my favorite is probably AvB as he tends to cross many types of trance during his sets and does this very well, especially his longer sets.

are you the same Andy Smith that studied at Hills Road and worked for vibeFM?

Posted by AndySmith on Apr-26-2006 12:52:

No afraid not mate, but there are many of us around

Posted by Sketch on Apr-26-2006 14:12:

Ferry Corsten
Sander van Doorn
John '00' Fleming

the 3 that stand out the most for me production and set wise.

I'm not gonna turn this into an anti-flemming thread but I must say, I've seen him live recently and I just can't classify him as a Trance DJ. It wasn't even psy or goa and it surely wasn't Trance. His style is definetly changing, for me it's for worse.
