Highest cell phone bill ever was Toronto during Labour of Love weekend last year. I finally turned off the phone to halt the incoming calls - still ended up with about $170 phone bill (US). 
For Montreal, I put North American roaming on my phone for an extra $20 to stem this insanity.

Rogers called me today and gave me 3 months free picture and video messaging because I had switched from Bell.
For no real reason other than that, because it's not a promo now, or when I signed up a few weeks ago.

Ha, just noticed something funny on my bill. I had to make some calls to Israel from my cell the 1st 2 days there. I only see 1 of the calls on my bill (3 mins= $4.56). I couldn't find the other calls on the bill... til now. For some reason, the billing dept didn't register the last 2 digits of the phone #, which then makes a call to Israel look like a call to McKinney, Texas. So I got an additional 12 mins of calls to Israel for free. NICE!!!

ok so this thread made me shit my pants, I called Rogers and got them to dig up my bill 2 days earlier than I get it, and mine is only 100 bucks. ABHAHA you guys are losers
While I was on the phone I got her to upgrade my txt msgs to 1000 as I hit 600 last month. (that's only outgoing folks, I have free incoming)

my largest that i actualy had to pay was about $75 .... mostly cuz of txt msg 
I love text messaging, to bad my bill hates it!
My cheapest bill I ever had was about 60$.. most expensive was 350$ ish.

I used my phone more than I thought I would which is unfortunate but unavoidable.
I had planned on picking up a pay as you go phone when we got to Miami.. and simply using that. You can usually get a refurbished phone for $75. Then you can top up as you need to and most plans in the US charge $0.25 a minute long distance to Canada (plus the cost per Minute). Once you have the phone you can just simply keep it topped up if you go to the US a lot and then retain your number and you have it each time you go.

When Killah and I got to Buffalo we tested our phones to discover that we could now text in the US (previous trip we could not with Bell)
So, I contacted Bell to find out that each text is only $.20 to send and free to receive. I am waiting for my bill to come in to confirm this though. I confirmed my bill on line and it did not appear that there was an extra charge for the texts sent in the US.
I have unlimited text to Canada and the US on my account, as I average 1500 - sent/received a month. (yes I have a problem)
My total bill was $200 so that is an extra $120 which would account for the 44 roaming minutes.. which leads me to believe the texts were included in the unlimited.
Should have listened to Tristan and added the US roaming minutes which I will do next time which would have dropped the extra $120 to $40
That's all..

Was in NYC 2 weeks ago and texting worked just fine..
The feature has been added since September as we encountered the same problem then as well.
Will keep you posted about the actual charge..

No prob Lisa. I used to work at Rogers in cell department so I know some of the tricks to get your way 
i cant believe you guys are crazy enuf to use ur celly's down there....buy a phone card and walk to the pay phone....
i would be way way way to cheap to use my cell phone. plus your on vacation what do you need you celly for??
i remember Cuzo was with us down in miami and the bank had him hold for like an hour.
