Ummmm yes!!! I still love this song!!!

Actually alot of those dance mix tunes were quite wicked and I still enjoy many of them. No shame, totally ahead of the times!

old best friend (from waaaaay) lived/lives up there

his name is anthony pedace. he was a bigger portugese guy. dated some girl named danielle. had a best friend named colin who was a bigger blonde guy, who knocked up his girlfriend (i think in high school)

thats all i remember. we were best friends when i was like 8-14. his grandparents lived next door. i saw him once when i was 16 when i was in the SOU. lost contact with him right after and can't seem to find him because his mom remarried and went by the new last name

It was remixed last year, or the year before into a "current sounding" eurodance track!

I quite LOVED IT!

So good to hear the sound updated... it totally appealed to me all over again on such an awesome level, not least of which was because it was what started it ALL for me!

Posted by DigitalMP on Apr-27-2006 03:27:

Okay, if we're going back to what really started initally rockin us into EDM, I'll have to say the old "Club Techno"

Fall 1992...
2Unlimited - Tribal Dance
AB Logic - Hitman
Black Box - Strike It Up
Captain Hollywood Project - More and More
Culture Beat - Mr. Vain

Spring/Summer 1993...
Crystal Waters - 100% Pure Love
Culture Beat - Mr. Vain

Summer 1994...
Livin Joy - Dreamer

Oh man...I wanna go back. I can picture those years like they were yesterday!

Speaking of Binary Finary a couple days ago...what about 1998?

Posted by Irishaddict on Apr-27-2006 03:34:

Way too many.

But what converted me from dance music to actual EDM was..

Paul Van Dyk - We Are Alive

I remember that.

Posted by DJ_Elyot on Apr-27-2006 04:11:

First it was stuff like:
Reel 2 Reel - I like to Move It
Chris Sheppard crap

Then maybe:
Dance Mix '94, '95, '96

Following that, when I was a kid and dance music was popular for a little while, stuff like:
-> Aqua
-> Love Inc.
-> etc

The next phase was less pop but still cheese:
-> Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
-> Dune - Hardcore Vibes

Then some classic trance:
-> Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia
-> Lost Tribe - Gamemaster

The first liveset I ever downloaded off of Napster on my 56k modem was Paul Oakenfold - Live At Shadow Lounge. There were tons of great tracks on that... Tastexperience - Highlander, Ascension - Someone, and so many other great classics.

Behold, my arse. mr vain

call him insane....

he said

I know what I want and I want it now.. I want you, cuz im mr vainnnnn

Posted by Tordan on Apr-27-2006 04:29:

I have always liked dance music but what really got me listening was the dancey sorta songs of the early 90s. 2Unlimited, Culture Beat, London Beat, Captain Hollywood Project, Robin S, Ace of Base, Haddaway, SNAP!, La Bouche, Todd Terry & The Real McCoy were big influences.

But if had to pick just one track that sealed the deal for me it would have to be: Missing (Todd Terry mix) - Everything But the Girl.
