thier arse waiting in a massive line was fucking kidding themeselves
9:00am and u guys are back?
Come on guys? 9am and you guys are already posting reviews?? with Morales on the booth, and being the opening night, you should know he is going to spin until probably 6pm if not later.
so you guys got your invisible line as well eh? cool ...
anyway, you shouldn't worry too much about the first night, this is why I'm going to wait until everything settle down to visit and review this place.
have fun
Patius
I just strolled by twice and saw tordan outside trying to get in! (that was about 8am) No luck I guess.
the beats sounded way harder than I expected.
so.fuckin.amateur
When I finally compose myself (re: anger/ frustration) I'll take the time to write about what I thought was the biggest shitshow joke of a club lineup I've ever seen. (and wow, that includes some pretty fucking bad lineups)
Bravo Sonic for ruining my weekend. I KNEW I should of went out on Friday FFS.
^^^whoa, I was expecting jon to at least have something good to say!

I had a BLAST last night!!
Entry:
I got in late without lineup prob's (close to 2:30am) and Nevio was spinning. It was definetley a "happy" sound last night from all the dj's which isn't bad because the crowd seemed to be feeling it. As I came up the stairs to see the massive speakers and the lights trickling down the stairs, Stevie Nicks was singing "Just like the one winged dove, sings a song sounds like she's singin" over the happy prog beats Nevio was pumping.
First DJ Switch Up:
Frankie came on and dropped the Shapeshifter's "Lola's Theme" as his first track and the crowd went nuts! He made a good first impression overall with his set, they seemed to like him for the most part but he didn't drop anything to really 'wow' me personally. My friends and I were so damn tired from the long night of hitting the clubs we didn't get to stay long enuff to hear Morales spin which sucks. Anyone who can comment on his set, please do! (and I mean DETAILS)
Club Details:
The club overall: great decor, great lights, great floor, great similar layout, the sound does need tweaking still but that is a kink they can work out. Staff was super nice except for when they had to put their mean faces on to deal with some of the people at the door. True it was a MOB down there (very 'Studio 54-esque') and I can understand why people were so pissed. I would be too in that situation (big up's to Jennstar for keepin it together!!!!). The flow of traffic idea is great as they moved the entrance to the side alley and then exit out the front on Spadina (it was the opposite back in the "b_a" days). The drinks selection was basic and similar to how it was in the past which was cool but the water bar behind the dj booth is in the WORST possible location. Constant traffic jam because there is not enough room to move on that level. I loved the vip sections, they were pretty cozy as were the other banquet area's.
Upcoming Talent and in closing:
Next weekend Danny Torrence is in from Montreal to spin on the system so we'll see how he sounds on it. The week following Chus and Ceballos, following that Cajjmere Wray (as you all know whom I adore), Matt C and Sean Miller, following that Tedd Patterson. The club really did look great though, it's gonna be a hot spot for sure and all the flashing camera's everywhere put their stamp of approval on it!!
--I give it a 9/10
WHY!
I'm sure this will be the topic of debate for many days to come, but the reality is, is that the door was not open until well into 2:15am, and this created a logistical nightmare for the door staff.
My gut feeling (and 7 years of putting up with clubbing bullshit) tells me that the 2am+ door opening was planned. Whether it be for exposure, or for 85$ VIP instant access tickets to be sold, I'm unsure.
And if this wasn't the door plan, then the place was so fucking disorganized my grandmother could of ran of tighter ship.
I KNOW I KNOW, I probably should of expected this, it's only the opening night, ETC ETC. However, I want to make one serious point...
WHY would Sonic take the time/money to invest into the promotion of a night like this. Like I mean, take into account EVERY aspect of it, the renovations (sound, decor, whatever else), the flyers, the promoter echelon, ETC. Only to completley drop the ball on getting people ACTUALLY INSIDE THE PLACE!?! hah This truely blows my mind.
I know this kind of thing happens EVERY weekend in Toronto, but I just expected so much more from this club. Sonic and I are already off to a bad start, I'm still thinking positively.

Were there a lot of hot women or all you saw was the "Sewer Crew" that stunk up the place so badly that the sound even started tweaking?

| Originally posted by TO guy I arrived at around 3:30, was in by about 4:20, so line wasn't too bad. It seemed like they were letting in about 10 people every 15 minutes or so. Seems reasonable, I don't know how things were earlier in the night though. Coat check was a complete disaster. It took at least another half hour to actually get in the club, and well over half an hour to get my coat at the end of the night. What was the deal with that? |
'nuff said.
LOL holy shit...yesterday I had such a dilemma whether I should go or not. I was way too tired to party, and on top of that I had to work today too; so I was really hesitant about going. Still...it was opening night to one of the most hyped clubs in T.O, and I really wanted to be there.
From the looks of it, I'm glad I didn't go. I didn't wanna put up with "opening night" bullshit and from the looks of it there was a lot of that.

The women that were there were uber hot, but seriously, it was like 95 % dudes. I was on the dancefloor twice, once coming in the club, and once on my way out. The rest of the night was spent behind the DJ booth.
same old BOA with more BS and lot more sewer boys
I was in hetro section

Like the propaganda teams from BOTH camps are hi-jacking this shit? People, read with caution, a lot of things said in here are totally spun bullshit. |

| Originally posted by Tordan yep... no luck. So I show up just before 8 after dropping off some TAs. The bouncer wouldn't let me in and I'm like... does this not go until 12? He said no, we're trying to clear everyone outta here. Made a few more attempts but I wasn't about to grease the bouncer and then prolly pay another exorbitant amount for cover. So I went to CZ instead... walked right in without having to grease the bouncer and paid the usual $20 cover. Deko-ze proceeded to blow my mind for the next 3 hours. Money well spent! |
hmm
As i previously mentioned
Saturdays are dedicated to the drink
hehe
