I've thought about collaborating. I've been told I do well at composing and arranging, and basic production. I come up with some good song concepts, and can carry them through. My percussion lines are somewhat basic, I'll add a shaker or a tambourine here and there, or other various percussion instruments. Also, I never have enough FX, sometimes I know what I want but can't get the sound.

I was thinking I'd like to hook up with someone that is really good with percussion and FX, and has a lot of knowledge in those areas. If that same person is good at creating and tweaking synth patches, well that would be a bonus. The thing is, I would like to have total say in the composition and arrangement of songs. I'm not hard to work with though, and would listen to suggestions. The co-producer would still get to be creative, but just with percussion and FX, and possibly synth patches. I'm not sure if anyone would go for such an arrangement. Most people probably want to be directly involved in the song writing, and I can understand that. I'm just scouting out the situation right now, I'm not sure what most of you are looking for in a collaboration.

I've had one recent digital release so far via Enoise Records, on beatport.com, audiojelley.com, and a few more places. I'm working on an EP right now as well, that will get released when I'm done with it. Hopefully some vinyl releases are in the future.

I'm sort of a beginner so would need guidance but would like to do a collab to learn more stuff. Styles im into are trance, electro house, hard trance, techno (harder sort)

Equipment I use is Ableton Live 5, Reason 3, some waves plug ins.

If your interested then P.M. me

edit:after reading post below mine i'm happy to do something with fellow beginners aswell

Posted by EtherealSL on Jul-14-2006 13:59:

best thing i would advise for people just starting out is to collab with people at the same level as you, that way you teach each other things the other might not hav known... best for both parties

HERE'S AN UPDATE:

havent been on here for a while ppl, been really busy and what not. Already got a few people aded to my msn for possible collaboration, aoppologise for those that have already given me some tunes: been busy and i have also tranfered computers, so no longer have Reason 2.5 as it is on my Mac. I am using my PC now:

Hardware:

PC: p4,3.2GHz HT, 160gb hard drive

Software:

Cubase SX 3.1 (sequencer)

Over 100 VSTi synth's (including the top of the range one's for Trance)
Over 150 VSTi FX's (including 'Waves' Gold)

Me: Been producing for 5yrs now. Lazy though as i havent really bothered to excell myself due to doing everything on my own. More of a writer than a producer though as my end product is not upto scratch.

GOOD points: Good at writing original riffs, have cubase SX 3.1 with tones of top quality plug-ins, reliable, enthusiastic

BAD points: Arranging tracks, mix-downs/mastering, production quality. Learning to use Cubase SX.

STYLES: House (chilled/funky/Hard house), Trance (mostly uplifting), Hardcore (Gabber + bouncy UK hardcore).
