Go to Scotland mate, it rocks. Friendly people and a great country. Form a birds eye: That green stuff you see in Scotland is called Grass, and those black dots you see in London are called people.
An old phrase with something to do with grass comes to mind...
Probably worth taking a year out no doubt but once you get settled you realise that it's the same old where ever you end up. The one thing you can never get away from is yourself... trust me, I've been trying for about 35 years.
Let me know, you gotta come to Brighton and we can spin some tunes and talk shit.
Speaking of which, Binkun! You are in England and no PM...
Seriously, if anyone is in the area hit me up and we can spin some tunes and stuff.
Cheers

Originally posted by chesco There is very little good about scotland, the weather is the worst, the people are friendly until you bump into a group of pissed up 13 year old neds with knives, the birds are ugly and there is fuck all decent work up this way. And then theres the licensing laws - wtf kind of club shuts it's doors at 3am, in other countries the party would just be getting started.
Welcome to Brighton... Drug Death Capital of Europe.
Seriously guys, you can't just focus on details like that. These are big city problems that are common to every city in the world. Go to Mexico City and you may say it's a wicked place but the inhabitants will tell you it's one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. Same goes for cities in South Africa.
In Brighton we have Chavs (Neds to the Scottish folk). Yes we have a lot of people from poor backgrounds with bad education but it's not unique.
In my experience of the US, there are extreme contrasts there too and you can turn a corner and find yourself in the last place you wanted to be.
When I was in the US (Yes Nem played football (Not soccer)) I was invited home to my room mates house for thanks giving. He lived in a city that had at that time the fastest growing gang population in the US and his neighbourhood was one of the worst. I am still here to talk about it and it showed me that you can't always believe what you read. Sure it was probably dangerous in certain ways, but people forget that other people live there and carry out everyday lives.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not naive and I know bad things happen but you can't let it dominate your life or that is all you will ever see.
Be positive!
Cheers

Originally posted by dj alliance England has the WORSTE (official) rate of teenage booz drinking. And the thing with knives, thats Glasgow Junky City and SHity London, not Edinburgh or anywhere else.

Originally posted by dj alliance And the licence laws in England are WORSE- Pubs close at 11pm and Clubs also close at 3am.
Errrrr hello people!!
Have we not heard of the late licensing laws in the UK? Most clubs here are open till at least 4:00am and in London 6:00am. Now there are also lots of afterparty clubs and things that carry on right through the morning.

Seems like everyone is packing up and going!
I'll be seeing Montreal next year!
MOVE TO UKRAINE AND FEEL THE HARDCORE!!!!!

Where did I say that all 13 year olds that drink come from scotland, all's I'm saying is this country has a particularly bad problem with teenege drinking.
So what you saying is that people don't get stabbed in edinburgh and that heroin isn't a problem in our capital - ok. tell it to the highest population of aids victims in any western european city.
Not at all, of course ppl get stabbed in Edinburgh, its everywere. Edinburgh has one of the lowest of City stabbings in the UK. Glasgow is the Worst in Eastern Europe.
What the fuck is this got to do with the 21st centrury. The last rezerection happended back in the 90's and only recently was there a revival of fantazia which was filled with over the hill hardcore dj's and a crowd full of pubescent teens. At least in the 90's the line up's had decent dj's like hawtin, garnier or may.
Rezerection is back on, you obviously dont keep in touch with hardcore. Actually the majority of ravers that go to hardcore events - the main ones, are mostly over 20.
Fair enough London clubs all shut at 3am.
Not unless they get a licence to open longer - some do, juts like Edinburgh some stay open till 6am if they obtain a licence.
I just dont like people, especially people that are from Scotland, dissing my country. Of course drugs and stabings are a major problem in Scotland, but not as bad as London. Scotland is so much friendly that England (an offical poll was done last year). The further north yougo the more firendlier it gets.
Anyway id go to Canada - if your already there stay where you are.
Do me a favour and learn to quote and spell, I have no idea what the fuck you are trying to convey if you can't type in English.

To be fair the late license thing is less than a year old.
But clubs have still been open till later, they just closed the bar.

Originally posted by djdk An "official" poll, eh? must be true then As for London clubs, there are quite a few that have 24 hour licenses, and shedloads of places that are open til gone 6am Are you SURE you lived there for 4 1/2 years?? You obviously didnt go out much whilst you were there if you did
